I did an early one at 10 weeks (due to PCOS), and I was told to fast for 8-12 hours prior to the test.

My 1hr was right after lunch on a particularly crazy day, they didn't say anything about fasting so I had a huge thing of fries in a rush trying to get to my appointment and failed.

If you are going to eat, definitely plan to eat earlier and have lean protein so you don't have to go through that stinking 3 hour test!

My test was late afternoon (I think about 4) and they just told me no food after lunch.

That's what I did. I had my test first thing in the morning so I wouldn't have to fast for too long. But from what I remember it was much longer than an hour that they wanted me to not eat. I was prone to nausea if I went without eating so it wasn't an option to have an afternoon appointment.

Mine was a 2-hour test, and it required that I fast for 8-14 hours. Generally, the less sugar and carbs you've eaten in the last ~8 hours the lower your numbers will be. So if you're really worried, you could try to avoid carbs and sugars on the day of your test.

The instructions from the hospital for mine (I do it next week) specifically say not to eat or drink anything but water after 10PM the night before. My appointment is at 9AM. That seems crazy to me!

My OB told me to eat like I usually would so the results wouldn't be skewed. I ate breakfast like normal, apple cinnamon oatmeal and water, and had my test about 2 hours later. I passed the test with flying colors.

I had my appt first thing in the morning and didn't eat anything before I went in.. :T good point about the fasting overnight. I tested during the Christmas season and failed. My office was stocked with sweets galore! Passed the 2nd time around though--also tested first thing in the am.

As long as you don't eat sugars or carbs you should be fine. I was stupid and ate a bagel and failed. But I passed the 3 hour.

I am sheduled to have my glucose test next week. I go in for my appointment in the afternoon and was told not to eat anyfood for atleast an hour before I arrive. But I see online some people have their appointment in the morning and technically havent eaten anything since the night before. I was wondering if this affects the test and the likelihood to get false result.
