We are gluten free here. Our favorite snacks are fresh fruit, enjoy life products, and glutino sugar wafers.

I have celiac disease, so we are mostly GF in our house. Snacks: hummus w carrots or peppers, string cheese, rice crackers (I like nut thins by diamond or blue diamond? You can get them at the regular grocery store), fruit, rice cakes with peanut butter, popcorn.
Breakfast: oatmeal (if he is very sensitive/actually has celiac disease, get oats that are specifically labeled "gluten free"), eggs, smoothies, or pancakes/waffles (we use the King Arthur mix).
I haven't tried any convenience meals, but if you can find Against the Grain pizza in your frozen section (maybe check whole foods) it's supposed to be good. That company makes great bagels, too.
We do the quinoa/brown rice past from trader joes, tacos with corn tortillas/shells, and burgers with oven fries for quick meals.

My LO eats GF/DF…breakfast he will usually have scrambled egg and fruit. Sometimes oatmeal, gluten free bread (Food for Life brand in the freezer section) or just cereal like cornflakes with coconut milk.
For lunch/snack I would maybe get baby carrots, applesauce, we do lots of nuts and seeds but that would depend on the kids, small cucumbers (my kids like them whole), or those flat rice crackers can be made into a sandwich, or corn tortilla with guacamole (trying to think of things you could just buy).
Dinner I would just do pasta (rice or rice/quinoa is what we prefer). Alternatively a veggie fried rice. Both would be ok to make ahead of time.

King Arthur Flour has a ton of great recipes using their gluten free baking mix (can buy @ WF, target, and some other grocery stores). You really can't even tell that these muffins (/or bread... I make it into muffins and bake about 22 mins instead!) are gluten free: http://www.kingarthurflour.com/recipes/gluten-free-quick-and-easy-banana-bread-made-with-baking-mix-recipe

Other recipes are on the box and their website!

@rachiecakes: Shaws, stop & shop and market basket all have good GF selection too. I am totally GF and shop mostly at Market Basket.

How about: GF chix nuggets/veggie burgers (dr praegers) with French fries or tots. Or a tofu stir fry with GF soy sauce on rice. Udis is great for breads/bagels/muffins etc. he could do sandwiches (PB & Nutella?) on Udis bread. Chips are Gf/df. Yogurts/applesauce pouches, gf pretzels, popcorn is gf. If you go out B. good has GF buns and fries (and a non gf veggie burger option). Good luck! So nice of your husband!!!

@rachiecakes: haha i hear ya. If you can find Udi's in the frozen food section, i believe most of their stuff is dairy free as well, and their breads, bagels, etc. are really good! and our stores have gluten free pasta - the corn based pastas are very good!

@rachiecakes: There's a brand called Van's that makes gluten, egg, and dairy free frozen pancakes, waffles and French toast sticks. Usually sold at the regular grocery store in the frozen breakfast foods section. Breakfast for dinner?

Udi's makes gluten free muffins, sold in the regular frozen bakery section.

@Pirouette: good idea! I forgot about those broccoli bites. my son is typical 3 year old who likes pasta, grilled cheese, muffins, like a carb-a-holic, lol

@IRunForFun: I'll look for that mac and no cheese! we don't do chicken or fish, so that's out. I ordered some gluten-free Girl Scout Cookies last month :)

@youboots: pasta will work! I'll look for that. My husband isn't the best at cooking, so I'm trying to leave him with some easy heat-up meals for the little guys.

thank you! & keep 'em coming ;)

Larabars! I actually buy them for myself (my kids are not GF), but they are soft and easy to eat so both my 15 mo and 3 yo have them for snacks all the time.

I second Dr. Praeger's, they make yummy spinach potato bites shaped like dinosaurs! I eat them myself, haha. Their veggie burgers are also dairy free.

There is a brand called Ian's, which I normally find at Target, and they make gluten free chicken nuggets and fish sticks, etc, but that may not work - unless you guys eat fish? They also make frozen "mac n no cheese" which is gluten and dairy free, that could be a good option!

If you just browse the GF section at your regular grocery store you'll find lots of snack options - cookies, crackers, bars, etc.

if you're looking for easy snacks/meal stuff, Dr. Praegers makes a lot of gluten free kids stuff. broccoli, spinach, sweet potato pancakes in cute little shapes. i don't know if they'd eat veggie burgers, but they have those too.

For go to snacks, obviously fruit and veggies are all gluten free. certain types of granola bars are available in all stores, like KIND bars (the peanut butter and chocolate chip flavor is great!) for cereal, corn or rice chex are gluten free. those would be good just to snack on. just trying to think of mainstream stuff you'd find anywhere in case you're not near a whole foods. if you tell me some of your son's favorite foods, i'd be happy to help you think of substitutes that are gluten free!

DH is gf. Simple ingredients are the way to go. TJ has great corn pasta, that with dairy free red sauce for dinner. DIY tacos with corn tortillas is really easy then you can add based on what everyone prefers/can eat: black beans, avacado, salsa, cheese, sour cream etc- we make breakfast bowls a similar way. Bisquick has a great mid for pancakes and waffles- just use soy milk. Can he eat eggs?

I would just head to Trader Joe's or Whole Foods and browse around. When I was on an elimination diet while nursing (no dairy, soy, gluten, eggs or nuts) I was always able to find things to snack on in those two places. Cookies and crackers and stuff like that that would work for kids were usually easy to find.

My best friends LO is coming to stay at our house while we go on a girls trip (her husband is away and my husband will be watching both boys, bless him).
Her son eats a gluten-free mostly dairy-free diet and we're vegetarians, nice combo!

Any ideas what I could get for food - meals and snacks - that the boys could share while we're away? (And so that DH doesn't have to make two meals/snacks?)
