@mrbee: thanks!

Please accept my apologies for only thanking the ladies...I completely spaced out and forgot there were men on hellobee too. I guess this is an old habit from my college days (I went to an all women's school). It won't happen again!

Yay, it's over!!!! Thanks for all the kind words, you all are really the best!

The procedure wasn't too bad, they sprayed me with a numbing agent and then pinched me twice. The doctor's bedside manner left little to be desired--when I told her I was nervous she said it was no big deal. Maybe for her, but it was for me!!! I definitely felt the needle go and and she did move it back and forth a couple of times. The second time she didn't move it around. I was so happy for it to be over I didn't even ask why they pinched me a second time. DH and I think it was for comparison purposes since I only have one nodule and the second pinch was on the other side. I will double check with my endo next week when I see her!

After I left the procedure room like a bat out of hell I met up with DH. We left immediately but as we waited for the elevator I got really light-headed so we went to the stairwell and I sat down for a few minutes. I was sweating and pretty worked up. When I felt back to myself again we went to the car, cranked the AC and decided to go to a nice restaurant for lunch. DH is the best!

My neck is sore and it feels weird to swallow, but it should go away soon! I still have the two bandaids they put on and am too afraid to take them off since I dot want to touch my neck yet. So, I have all these people at work looking at me and wondering what the heck happened!

Thanks a million ladies, you sure made this day bearable!

@sloaneandpuffy: Wow! Same here! However I was told by a neuro optomoligist in my teenage years I would have some sort of thyroid disease in the future so it's no shocker.

@missifu: How did it go?!

@sloaneandpuffy: haha yes, in theory! Oh no! I hope the results are good if/when you have another one!

I have Hashimoto's so cancer with it is rare from my understanding, however the overall appearance of my thyroid has gotten worse since starting treatment :/.

@anbanan15: I mean, I guess comedy can be a good thing :) It does help to distract you IN THEORY hahaha

I have to keep having ultrasounds now periodically and I have a feeling I would have been sent for another biopsy if it weren't for my pregnancy. So I have that to look forward to post partum. The good thing is thyroid cancer seems relatively non-aggressive and very treatable!

@missifu: I hope you don't have to wait too much longer! And you get some answers! Thinking of you!

@sloaneandpuffy: Not knowing if you have cancer must be a relief! I have an indeterminate nodule that I wish they would just biopsy instead of sitting on it until my next u/s. I'm debating a second opinion in the meantime. By the way I had a comedian OB/GYN...let just say L&D was a hoot, complete with him telling me the baby peed on me when he broke my waters. lol

I had one. The numbing shot is the worst part. In fact, sometimes they don't give a numbing shot at all for that reason, although in my case they had to root around a little (sorry!) so it was worth it. For the rest of the day I felt like someone had punched me in the throat but it was no big.

The doctor who did mine thought he was funny so he made these sounds like "ee-er ee-er ee-er" while he pushed the needle in and out. So hopefully yours is not a comedian.

The best part is knowing you don't have cancer! :)

Good luck! I've never had one (although had plenty of thyroid ultrasounds) but from what I hear, it's not too painful.

I'm sorry you're having to go through that :-( Any medical procedure, especially at the throat level freaks me out, so I can understand you being nervous. I don't have personal experience with it but my mom has had this done twice. It will be a little sore afterwards but otherwise not too bad. Good luck!!

My mom had one a few years ago and said it was no big deal. She only had a little bruise on her throat after. I'll probably have to have one at some point in life too, because I have a few tiny nodules. Try and relax and good luck to you!

Hey everybody, I have a fine needle biopsy scheduled this morning and I must admit, I am really nervous. From what the doctor told me and what I've read online, it seems like no big deal in terms of pain, but I just have a pit in my stomach. Of course there are the few people that say it was horrible too! Part of it has to do with the fact that my throat area is so sensitive that I can't stand when others touch it so the thought I of a needle piercing through it freaks me out!

I used to be really brave with medical procedures but after major surgery a few years back, I am now a nervous wreck.

Anyone else been through this? Any and all advice or insight is greatly appreciated!
