I haven't been on hb since having my son, but I wanted to come back to update.

I DID go into early labor (I knew it!!) and had my csection early. It actually ended up being better than my scheduled one. I didn't have the anxiety leading up to the date. It was just like, this is happening right now...and then there he was.

Anyway, just wanted to update that it was fine!!

I went into labor at 37 weeks with twins, had a c/s scheduled for 38 weeks. I didn't know for sure it was labor, drs told me to head over to the hospital (it was nighttime). They monitored me for an hour, verified that my contractions were the real thing. Then we had to wait for the twin OR to open up. Nothing really different than what we had planned, except that they were born at 2 a.m. instead of 6 or 7 a.m. and I did experience some labor before the c/s took place. My recovery was easy peasy.

I had myself convinced I was going to go into labor before my scheduled c/s with my 2nd, when I asked the doc what I do if I did, he just said to give him a call and head over to the hospital. I didn't, thankfully haha

My friend went into labour at 37+5 when she had a booked c/s for 39 weeks. It wasn't an emergency situation at all. She started getting contractions and was in early labour when she went to be assessed and they decided to do the c/s a few hours later but it wasn't rushed or anything. What makes you think it would be an emergency situation?

I didn't go into labor but my second section was pushed up due to low fluid. I was getting weekly ultrasounds in addition to my regular weekly visit. They saw fluid had dropped even lower (37+5) and a nurse walked me over to labor and delivery. The section was scheduled for about 3 hours later. No real difference besides the fact I got to eat breakfast.

I was told if I went into labor to go to admissions and my section would be done earlier.

I had a c-section scheduled with my first at 39 weeks, and then my water broke at 38w3d. We went to the hospital, and it was not rushed at all. The only thing that was a big deal was that I had planned on it happening a different day!

Yes, twice. Both for breech babies.

The first time my water broke around 6pm. They took me into L&D, checked to make sure it was really my water, checked the baby on the monitor, did an ultrasound to confirm that the baby was still breech, then they tried to get me to wait until the following morning for the surgery becasue I had eatena couple crackers shortly before my water broke around. But once my waters had completely finished breaking my contractions started and got pretty intense, so they went ahead and did it. LO was born at 12:30 am.

The second time I had been having preterm contractions without dilation since 30 weeks. I had already been to L&D twice and sent home, had taken meds to stop them, etc. The last time I went in the contractions were more intense, and close together, but I still wasn't dilating. The midwife almost sent me home a 3rd time but I almost completely melted down so she went to talk to the dr, and they decided to go ahead with the c-section. My contractions started in the early afternoon, and she was born at 11:30pm.

Both were considered "emergency" but neither felt like an emergency.

i did. was scheduled for a C (due to family history) at 38w6d. went into prodromal (false) labor at 35w1d that turned into real labor at 35w3d. I was 6cm dilated and 90% effaced when I showed up at my doctor's office, so she texted the on-call surgeon and they had me in for my emergency C (bumping 2 scheduled ones) 1 hour later. I was just so happy to not be in labor anymore that I didn't have time to process, but it all turned out better than fine!

I was scheduled for a c-section on a Monday and went into labor in the early morning on Sunday. My dr just had me go right to the hospital and they did the c section right away. It wasn't much different from my other c section except it was 3am.

My emergency c-section really didn't feel different from the planned one...I guess it was more rushed, but that was kind of a good thing for me since that gave me less time to just lay there being nervous and afraid waiting in the prep room.

It didn't happen to me, but I did ask my doctor about this when I was scheduled for a medically necessary c-section (because it was dangerous for me to labor). He said that if I went in to labor, I should just go immediately to the hospital and they would do it right away. He didn't seem too concerned about it.

I didn't go into labor but was told that if I had contractions to head straight to the hospital and they would do the c/s right away.

DD's c/s was at 39+3 - I never had any contractions

Fingers crossed this doesn't happen to you!!

Did anyone go into labor before their scheduled c-sec and want to share their stories?

I'm having a repeat (medically necessary) c-section. My first DS was scheduled (and delivered) at exactly 39w. This time, my scheduled date is only 2 days before 40w and I'm totally freaking out that I'm going to go into labor before that and have an emergency situation that I'm not prepared for.

Is the experience any different? I'm super anxious about it and due to their schedules, they can't move it up (and won't go a day over 39w)!
