@HabesBabe: hope so! We already had to leave her first wedding early (same guy, they just had a quicky because he's Australian and they wanted him to be able to move to the states ) because lo was only a month old and had to go to bed.

@artbee: AHH :( Good luck... maybe LO will have too much fun at the wedding or will be able to sleep through anything!

@HabesBabe: It's in a bookstore with only one room. And it would be difficult to lug a pack n play there because we're going to have so much crap for LO already, and we're going to be taking a cab, which means we have to lug a car seat with us too. I didn't realize going to a wedding would be so difficult!

Is the wedding at a hotel ballroom? My friend asked the hotel manager to bring a portable crib after dinner was served and one of her bridesmaids used it for her LO. That might be an option-- or bring your own portable pack and play?

@looch: Ummm... even before I had kids I would never think to have or go to a wedding that late. I'm not a night person though.

@artbee: Yeah, I think it's people without kids who have friends without kids. Time of day isn't important.

I don't even know if the wedding is at a hotel or what they really mean by childcare is arranged. We'll have to recruit my MIL to spend the night I guess.

@looch: Who has a wedding at 10 pm? I'm in bed by then! Do you mean childcare is arranged at the wedding? I would assume kids would be in bed by then. You don't have a babysitter at home, then you could just put your LO to sleep yourself and have someone there to watch them in the comfort of your own home/hotel room.

We have a similar situation. We got an invite for a wedding at 10pm on Friday night. Childcare has been arranged, but our LO goes to bed at 7 or 7:30, so we'll see.

@aunt pol: she'll only be 11 months. Napping doesn't help her stay up. She has her internal clock set for bed time. She could nap from 6-7 and still be a cranky pants at 730.

If there are other children there her age she might find a burst of energy to keep her going. Would she nap during the day for you, to give her a little longer? How old is she?

Let's hope she is as excited as you and stays up past her bedtime! Usually 1 night won't throw them off too much and she'll just sleep more the next day! Lucky her that she gets to be the flower girl!

@artbee: DH and I use the car for movement. She just laughs at us when we try to get her in a stroller. Daycare was able to get her sleep in a stroller for a while but now that doesn't work either! It sounds like the stroller would be your best bet and people can take turns pushing it around.

I think if she'll sleep in her stroller thatd be the best iption. To be safe you can put some cotton in her ears or get her those baby headphones to drown out the noise. Its really hard with nightime events, but you may find she's so intrigued with what's going on that she may stay awake a little longer for that one night!

@Mrs. Bee: That's what I was thinking, I can bring some pretty pj's and just put her to sleep there. I just worry about the loud music, but she slept through a loud new years so hopefully she'll do the same. And I was thinking of just bringing the umbrella stroller since we'll be traveling and it's easier, but I guess I should suck it up and bring the more comfy stroller.

@GreenThumb: Her wedding is at a bookstore, so we can't do that. Wish we could though, that would be nice!

@Andrea: I thought your LO liked movement to sleep. I don't know the area... but if there is a hotel near it's probably too expensive for us. My LO is in an infant car seat travel system now so it's nice and comfy, I'm hoping she sleeps just as well in a big girl stroller. Guess we'll see!

Since it's your sister, your hubs would probably be the best bet for putting LO to bed...is your hotel nearby? or is there a quiet room at the venue where LO can sleep in a carseat/portable playpen?

Is the place you are staying nearby? I would book a place nearby and trade on and off. If not, then someone is going to have to leave the wedding. That is what happened when DH's cousin got married. My LO goes to bed at 6:30 so there is only so long I can keep her up before meltdown.

I don't think my LO would sleep in a stroller.

At my wedding, my sister and her husband traded on and off watching my nephew once he went to bed. But they were staying overnight at our reception site, so it wasn't a big deal for them to walk back and forth.

My LO is very strict about her bed time. She sets it, and she's very grumpy if we keep her awake longer than she wants. Bed time is 7:30. My sisters wedding starts out 7. I'm matron of honor, and LO is flower girl. It's an OOT wedding for us and everyone we know that lives there will be at the wedding so we won't have babysitters... and LO has stranger anxiety so I wouldn't want to leave her with someone she doesn't know, especially at bed time. Of course we still have 5 months until the wedding and LO can change a lot by then, but I'm not counting on it.

What would you do in this situation? I hate to leave the wedding early since she's my sister... but I know we really don't have a choice. Is there a solution that I'm just not thinking of?
