@pastemoo: She said she got it from BRU, but it was a year or two earlier so they probably don't have it anymore. But it gave me hope in finding a cute, usable bag.
And in an interesting bit of irony, when I was walking into the gym yesterday, I cut across the parking lot in front of a couple. I had my coat open so my belly was visible. And I heard a faint "wolf whistle" from behind me and then the lady asked the guy "what was that for?"
For my own pride, I'm going to assume that he finds pregnant ladies sexy, and not that it was a sarcastic wolf whistle.

Lol- I can't help staring at the pregnant ladies at my gym. I take a step class, and seeing them just givin' er whilst I'm huffing and puffing it is just amazing.

@owlmom: LOL. I got looks early on, but my husband kept touching my belly so people figured it out. Those encouraging comments are so cool!

@winniebee: Hmm, my gym is pretty old, maybe that's the difference? You're looking very good, so I'm surprised more people don't say anything to you.

@chopsuey119: Huh. Maybe it's the classes? No one really says much when we're lifting, they just look, but the classes are more friendly, so maybe that's what it is. (kind of like @betsyboop 's yoga/pilates class)

@Goldilocks1107: :) Cool. What kind of diaper bag? I just modify the heck out of the classes.

@cupcakemama: HAHHAH, most of the comments I get are from the older women--maybe that's what it is. :P

I didn't get comments but did get stares. I did weights up to 8 months. The muscle head guys in the weight room were freaked out a bit by the belly, older women all had encouraging smiles and the under 25 women all clearly thought I was gross. Whatever. I didn't care

I haven't gotten any comments at my gym yet, but a few sidelong glances. I don't do any of the classes right now because the preggo-friendly ones are at inconvenient times. So I do some cardio and some light weights when I'm there.
I did ask a lady in the locker room where she got her diaper bag from though!
I'm glad your getting lots of positive reinforcement at the gym.

@pastemoo: That's so cool! I just do elliptical and weights at my gym (I used to do classes, but they seem like too much effort while pregnant : ) No one says anything to me....but people definitely stare at me...my belly looks huge when I'm at the gym! Also, my gym is very young - lots of post-college kids.

I didn't get any comments at the gym until my belly was very clearly a baby bump. Prior to that, I got a lot of looooong glances - I think people were trying to figure out if I was pregnant or just carried all of my fat in my belly :) Once I was obviously pregnant, I got a lot of encouraging comments from women.

@betsyboop: Cool. I just love that it's the only place people are nice to me about it, and I really feel good about myself when I go. I think even when it gets harder to do things, I will keep going (I am already slowing down the last few weeks, I can feel it!)--I am doing TRX and spinning which both allow you to customize the workout and make it super easy or moderate (for me) and super hard/badass for my husband.

I don't know what it is about the gym, but it is the 2nd best part of being pregnant (the 1st best is feeling or seeing the baby kick).

I don't belong to a gym but I belong to a pilates/yoga studio where I take classes several times a week. The teachers have all been so patient and helpful (many of them worked out during their own pregnancies), and fellow students have told me they wish they had worked out when they were pregnant because it was hard to get back into shape after their LO's arrived. I'm glad I'm going but now that I'm approaching my 3rd trimester, I don't know how much longer I'll be able to go! I think working out during pregnancy is great though, and it's great that you're doing it!

@MsMini: Cool! I am never around for the pool classes at our gym. I'm hoping to go to open swim on the weekends soon though. Glad your class is so good. :)

I love aquacize, it is super relaxing, and your body is so well supported by the water, it really helps with the aches and pains and stuff. I do get some "bump bounce" in the water if we are doing really bouncy activities, so I just modify, or hold my bump with my arms and skip the arm part of the exercise.

@MsMini: Cool cool. I get that more in the outside-of-the-gym world. I guess there are just a lot of moms with older kids in the classes we take--and we're the only couple that goes to lift together, so the trainers recognize us and are super nice.
How is aquacize?

I do aquacize classes, and I do get some chatting up in the change room and stuff, but mostly just general pregnancy stuff (like when are you due, how are you feeling, is this your first etc)

For all you ladies who went to the gym when pregnant (or who workout in other public places)--what do people say?

I get a whole lot more happy comments at the gym than anywhere else. Regularly I get the "you're getting fat" stares, and the "stop exerting yourself, you're *gasp* PREGNANT!" comments in the rest of my existence.

HOWEVER, at the gym, people tell me I look good, and they tell me how good it is that I'm going to the gym, and they tell me how quickly the baby weight will come off because I look good now. They give me little tidbits of advice, slowly over time.

I FREAKING LOVE MY GYM!!!

How is your gym treating you now that you're pregnant?

Also... are you in the class portion of the gym, or the self-motivation section (weights and cardio machines)? I do both with my husband.
