I was there two weeks ago!

Favorite things we did - groupon for helicopter ride over the strip at night, tickets to the cirque show KA, Buchon for brunch at the Venetian, the Bellagio fountains, and gambling!

We just went for 5 nights over Easter. I love everything at the Cosmo- the Wicked Spoon is the best buffet in Vegas and Rose Rabbit Lie is really fun and unique (they have a dress code). The neon graveyard is really cool- they have old signs from closed hotels. Look into Uber, tram and the Duce to get around.

We just went less than a month ago. Paris also has a very good breakfast buffet! I am not sure where you are staying but there are tons of Walgreens. We had one pretty close so we bought a case of water for our hotel. For alcohol there are quite a few Fat Tuesdays on the strip so we purchased a refillable yard and shared. We lucked out a few times & ran into happy hours. Trip Advisor has an awesome LV thread. If you want to go downtown buy a bus pass. It will be cheaper than a cab. I also agree on going to the discount tix booths on the strip. There was one by Ballys & Planet Hollywood. We also got a discount on a lunch buffet at Mirage. It ended up being $22 for both of us. The food was so-so but it included complimentary beer & wine. Not a huge Beatles fan but Beatles Love is amazing. We were hoping to see O but they were off during the nights we were in LV.

@Jennibenni: Oooh, I have restaurants! For breakfast, Bouchon (the Venetian) or Mon Ami Gabi (Paris, and sit outside and watch the traffic on the strip!). China Poblano is great, and on our last trip we went to Yardbird, which was outstanding. We also really liked Portofino.

@Jennibenni: I think my favourite things were the shows! I ended up getting us a great deal on flights/hotel - I had been checking prices daily and snatched it up when it was cheaper so we decided to splurge and see a show every night.

The first night, I took @erinbaderin 's suggestion and we saw Jubilee. We both loved it! It definitely was exactly what I pictured Vegas to be like. The costumes were amazing - the headdresses they wear are gorgeous. We bought the ticket prices at the discount booths they have along the strip - The price was cheaper than anything I'd found online.

We saw the Beatles Love - I bought tickets online. They had a deal, buy one ticket get one for $15. This show was amazing. If you like the Beatles, I would definitely recommend it.

And we saw David Copperfield. We wanted to see a magic act. He was good! Very entertaining and he had some really good tricks. Again, I bought tickets at the discount booths because they were cheaper than what I saw online.

Other than the shows, we basically just walked around looking at the different hotels. We did a tiny bit of gambling, but not very much.

We found that drinks were expensive - like when we were walking during the day and just wanted water, it was tough to find somewhere to get something cheap. Occasionally we'd find someone selling bottled water on the strip for a $1 but even that wasn't often (might have been the time of year we were there). There were no water fountains - I think we found one during the entire time we were there. Starbucks charged for a cup of tap water (I think they said it was $1.00 for the cup). We found the best, cheapest option was to go to McDonalds and order a regular drink, sit for a bit and make sure to refill the cup before we left.

One thing I wish we'd done is the dueling pianos. We were just too exhausted after the shows to go (we are not night owl partiers!) but I've heard really good things about them!

Thanks for the tips! I've never been anywhere like it so I have no idea what we're going to want to do! I'm not a big gambler, and neither is DH but we will set aside some money to gamble.

The Canadian dollar is really bad so I doubt we'll do much shopping either.

I'm going to make note of all your suggestions! Thank you!

I LOVE Vegas - in fact, I'm going in a week! We mostly go to shop and eat (although the Canadian dollar is so weak we may not do much shopping this time). What kind of stuff do you like to do? Definitely go see the fountains at the Bellagio, and the atrium. I always spend a morning walking up and down the strip going into all the hotels just to look. We always have brunch at Bouchon, and a drink on the patio at Parasol Down. We've seen the Beatles show - it was wonderful! I also recommend Jubilee - it's the oldschool Vegas showgirls burlesque show with the feathered headdresses, and it's a really fun time. I've heard that Fremont St is fun but in 6 visits we've never actually been!

DH and I celebrate our second anniversary soon so we are celebrating by taking a trip to vegas for 4 days!

For those of you who've been, what were some of your favourite things to do?

We plan to see two shows so far, Beatles LOVE Cirque du Soleil and probably David Copperfield.

What else should we plan to see?
