I was so excited for my own. It was when I was 19, but it actually wasn't anything special. Since I didn't go to college and had graduated high school the year prior, I was in an awkward stage of life where I didn't have many friends anymore. It was legit all-gold. Everyone wore something - or a lot of things! - gold and the decorations were all gold colored. My husband and I bought dollar store jewlery &amp; trinkets and spray-painted them gold. We all ran around all night shouting "I love goooooolllldddd" a la Goldfinger from Austin Powers. It's when you turn the same age as your birth date. I was born on the 5th, which is a milestone year anyway. I had a huge party, but nothing gilded &amp; gold anywhere. I'm sure my parents didn't know about golden birthdays. On 100layercake or SMP there was a featured golden 3rd bday and the touches of gold were perfectly incorporated into an otherwise feminine floral kids party.</p> <p>Besides this being fun for kids I think it could be a fun adult's party too. My husband's birthday is on the 9th and I could use his 39th or 49th bday to play with the golden bday idea. Since those bdays are not milestone birthdays like 40 or 50 having a party would be unexpected. My next loose golden bday is 35. To incorporate gold maybe a 80s theme where everyone dons rope chains and four finger rings.</p> <p>What do you all think? Does the gold theme unleash your creative juices? I am the same person that loves half-birthdays too. </p>
