Update: At monitoring today I had 3 8mm, 1 5.5mm and 1 4mm. So, slow growing, but growing! I'm hopeful to see much more on Monday morning. Until then, I'm likely on 450 all weekend - still waiting for the doc to call after checking my blood test from this morning.

@bluewolverine

I did a one time daily dose of 150.
Even though it took my follicles a while to grow, the doctor kept the dosage.

Our IUI was also not covered except the actual medication part and my hubby said (half jokingly, half totally serious) we couldn't afford multiple cycles. I was so relieved that it worked on the first try!!

@misolee: congrats! That's awesome and inspiring. What was your dose? I think I'll have to give up going out to eat for years if I end up doing 7 more days of 450.

I also did Gonal F, starting day 2 of my cycle. I went in for a monitored u/s at the typical day 7 and I was no where near ready. The doctor told me to continue with the dosage and did like every two -three day monitoring until they saw growth. I didn't do an IUI until Day 15 and Day 16.

Currently almost 9 weeks pregnant ;)

It was our first time with interventions too!

@BlueWolverine: the financial aspect does suck. I was lucky in that my first two iuis were completely covered by my insurance. But we are getting ready to try for LO #2 and I have different insurance that won't cover anything. We are saving like crazy since we know it's going to be a lot!

@sweetooth: Thank you! It's so easy to get discouraged by any little thing...I need to get positive!
@KT326: Thanks! It is early - I need to remember that. I'm a little scared of stimming for a long time due to the effect on my bank account, but if it works, it will all be worth it!

I had follistim for my iuis and I ended up stimming for almost 2.5 weeks each time. The great thing about injectables is that they can adjust the dosage according to how you are responding. There is no set time limit on how long you can stim (at least according to my protocols, I know Drs are different) it's still pretty early in your cycle, don't give up yet!

@BlueWolverine: We conceived our second son with Gonal-F and IUI. I never had more than 1 or 2 follicles when I did my medicated cycles. Best of luck to you! Stay positive :heart:

Got my estrogen results back and it's low. They're increasing my dose to 450. I'm getting less optimistic about this. :sad:

@Trailmix: Thank you! Makes me feel much better. I'd be so incredibly sad if doc ever wanted to cancel or do IVF. We've decided IVF isn't really in our financial plans, and we've already spent a ton of money on a medicated cycle (as you know).

I did almost exactly what you are doing now, it sounds like. Gonal-F at either 300iu or 400iu, I can't remember exactly, but it was very high compared to others I found who did a similar protocol. I think I 9 days of stims, starting on day 2 maybe? I ended up with 4-5 follicles and my RE wanted to actually cancel the cycle or convert it to an IVF one because of this but after talking about it, we decided to go through with the IUI after triggering with Ovidrel. We actually ended up with triplets but only carried twins. It was not an easy time or decision and in hindsight, I wish I had only had 1-2 follicles so in your case, I think this is a very good thing! And I wouldn't be surprised if another one or two pops up in the next few days, you are pretty early on in the stimming!

I think it's too early to tell, and it's possible for more to grow. I just had the weirdest (to me) gonal for TI cycle ever. I started low at 75, and nothing really happened for 5 days, so she upped me to 125. Finally I got 4 follicles from 8-10mm, so she upped me to 150. Nothing happened for 4 days. All 4 then measured 10mm. She kept me on 150 for another 4 days and now I have just one left at 18 now and the other 3 didn't continue to grow. Everyone is going to respond differently, but it for me, it just seems impossible to predict at any point during the stims when they try to do a slow few follicled stim.

I did Femara with 75iu Gonal-F, but we did timed intercourse not IUI. I did the Femara first which helped 2 follicles grow, and the took the Gonal-F when I was getting closer to O and that helped to mature them more quickly. Gonal-F did not help me have multiple follicles but then I took it mid-cycle.

Anyone done Gonal F for IUI? I'm on 300 of Gonal F and just had my first monitoring appointment. I only have one follicle at 4mm. Doc said because my period hadn't ended yet, it might be inhibiting growth. I'm a little disappointed to only have one. Is this bad? It' my first go round with interventions and I'm not sure if my expectations are realistic.
