I think around 2.5 is when my son started to really get into imaginative play - making toys talk and creating scenes with them. Now at 3 he does it all the time - it’s all he does, really.
He has a Little People doll house that he got for Christmas last year when he was 2y4m. He liked it but it took a few months for him to really get into it. Now he plays with it every week for extended periods of time. It’s only $30 or so, you could always start with something like that and if she has an interest, work up to a nicer/bigger one.
ETA: my niece is just a couple months older than my son and she got a “real” dollhouse last year at about 2.5. She liked it from the beginning and still uses it.

My DD loved her dollhouse starting around 2.5. My 16 month old has been obsessed with it for a while now, too.

I think a dollhouse can be enjoyed by kids of any age really, as long as you don't expect actual doll play. As an example, my son played with his play kitchen from when he was 2 years old, but not with play food. He used it to store his trains.

I didn't have my first dollhouse until I was about 6, so I always tend to do thing on the early side now, so as not to "miss out" on any possible play.

My two year old plays with hers a bit, but it's not her favorite toy (yet?) No big deal, because it doubles as toy storage and nightstand.

We got my older son a firehouse, which is essentially a doll house for Xmas last year and he was 3. He likes to create stories and imagine situations. It was a great age. My younger son is only 16 months and he also likes the moving parts of the doors as well as the furniture.

What's a good age to get a child a doll house? When did your child start to show interest in one. My DH wants to get my DD a doll house for her upcoming 3rd birthday. I'm not so sure. It's huge so if she's not interested in it, I would hate to just have it sitting around and taking up space.
