Yes, there was usually a few days of crying at bedtime before things went back to normal.

@QBbride: yep! It was AHHHMAZING. Granted we ST when he was 6 months to get down to 1-2 wakeups, but then it was like something clicked at 13 months and it just happened!

@hilsy85: I might have to try that next week when I know he is feeling better. I feel awful letting him cry when I know he just wants his mama. I think I could do 10-15 mins.

Isn't it funny how without ST, it's like one day they just decide to sleep through? From the night he started sttn, he has never woken up (until he was sick). Maybe it's not everyone's experience but I felt like he had to be ready.

@QBbride: we also didn't ST for him to start STTN. but after he was sick, there were a few days where I had to let him cry for 10-15 minutes before bed (naps were usually not an issue). But never more than that.

@hilsy85: thanks! He's been sleeping in our bed since Friday night, so 4 nights now. Normally I put him down awake and he falls right asleep but when I put him down for a nap/bedtime he stands up and screams. He's been on antibiotics for 1 1/2 days so I thought I'd be able to put him down now, but no :(

We never sleep trained so I was really relieved when he suddenly started sttn on his own. I really don't want to have to sleep train.

My LO started STTN like clockwork at 13 months. Then he got croup at 14 months and stomach flu at 15 months. Both times, he had 3-4 bad nights, but then went right back to STTN (THANK GOD).

My DS is 13.5 months and has been sttn for the past few months. Now he has strep throat and I haven't been able to not hold him for naps or put him in his crib at bedtime. I don't mind right now since he's sick, but will he go back to being a good sleeper or is it going to be a big fight?

Any experiences?
