We have the Chromecast in our basement. Since we don't watch tv down there often, I was sick of paying for a cable box every month. It's crazy easy to set up. We've really liked it so far for HBO and netflix. Haven't tried anything else yet.

@lavender: here's a comparison of chromecast, roku and apple tv http://www.digitaltrends.com/home-theater/google-chromecast-versus-roku-3-versus-apple-tv/

looks like chromecast is meant for anything you could view on the web .... so netflix, hulu, maybe amazon prime? you tube, etc.

@lavender: My DH got this for my MIL for Christmas. They are streaming netflix through the TV in their living room (it plugs right in). I can ask him about other apps. So far it's great!

We stream through the XBOX. My mom has a ROKU, another option to look into.

Anyone have the Google chromecast? We currently stream Netflix from our Wii but have decided to put that in the playroom. So now I am looking for alternatives. I know you can stream Netflix from the chromecast, but how about other sources like HBO or tv stations ? Thoughts?
