@kes18: @codeitall: Thanks for your insight! They don't offer the free tier in our city (booooooo), so I'm thinking that we will probably just stick with Comcast for now. We aren't gamers and honestly just use the internet for light surfing and netflix/hulu. Not worth it to cancel and pay the early termination fee. We'll think about it again once our Comcast promotional pricing runs out :)

We've had it in a couple apartments now. Both of them went with the basic free plan offered in our city and while it isn't amazing, it certainly does the job. DH is a gamer though, so we actually have google fiber on one side of the house and comcast on the other by his computer. We tried just sticking to the free fiber, but it struggled to let me Netflix while he gamed.

Our good friends went for the $70 plan with the gig and I personally think it is overkill, but that's where the LAN parties always happen :)

One plus it that we managed to get a huge deal on comcast when they realized there was some legit competition. And we get back into the deal price every time we renew because we could always go to google!

I have it. So we pay the $70/mo which is actually more than the internet I had before. I guess the only thing I've noticed is that the roku and streaming devices don't really ever lag . So that's nice I guess. If it's worth it, maybe not to me but my husband seems to think it is for gaming on the computer. Oh, I think one positive I did notice is that our internet does not go out as much as it did with our previous service provider. It pretty much never goes out but our other one sure did!

Does anyone currently use Google Fiber? I know they are only in a limited number of cities throughout the country so I may not have luck here. Signups just opened in my neighborhood and I need to do so by the end of October if I want it installed in my home. The lowest tier would be about what we currently pay for the most basic of comcast service, and the middle tier would be about $20 more/month (biggest draw would be faster speeds and 1TB free cloud storage). Just wanted to see what people's thoughts were if they had it! Or if you don't and had thought anyways!
