@runnerd: I personally had no symptoms like spotting that led them to suspect blood clotting, other than perhaps the fact that the first time the baby had a heartbeat and was on track, then abruptly was gone. My understanding is that sort of thing is more likely blood clots than chromosomal issues, since development was normal right up until it stopped.

However, my grandmother AND mother had placental abruptions. My grandmother's ended in tragedy, with the loss of a full term baby, and my mom's was with me, so clearly it had a happier ending. This is not normally hereditary, and it's very rare, so for both of them to have had them is a red flag. And the most common cause of abruptions are a blood clots, which can be caused by issues that ARE hereditary. My grandmother also has a history of blood clots, though I wasn't aware how far back it goes until today. It's actually really frustrating to me that after my first m/c the doctor didn't look at that history (which she was aware of), and the nature of my m/c, and go ahead and run some tests. I know one normally wouldn't after just one, but given my history it would have made sense.

That's all I know, so I'm not sure if it's helpful. But it couldn't hurt to bring it up with your doctor, right?

@Torchwood: I'll be looking for the details on your blog! Did you have symptoms that made you suspect clotting could be an issue? I'm just curious bc I had lots spotting issues due to some sort of blood clot during preg, and post-D&C... My doc was never concerned about it as something harmful... Maybe this would have been a better wall message with all my questions haha

Yay for medicine!

I hope you don't end up on shots! Although, if you do, you can come complain to us about it a lot.

I have no doubt that aspirin is what allowed me to finally carry to term (also a clotting issue for me)

Had my doctor's appointment, and got my blood test results! Short version- I got what I was hoping for! The blood tests did show something, but it was relatively minor. Yay! I have 2 mutations that can cause (relatively) minor blood clotting issues, but it is treatable. I'll definitely be on baby aspirin, and possibly something stronger. I'll also be seeing a Maternal-Fetal specialist soon. If you want to know (far too many) details, I explained it all in my blog. :)
