I stayed in the regular hospital gown until we left. The bleeding and the sweating were gross. But I guess with a gownie is it meant to only be used for one hospital stay?

I'd rather pay for the dark comfy pjs which you'd want to wear again. Then if you want to just stay in the hospital gown the whole time no money lost.

@Mrs. Pink: oh also, I wasn't going to bother but I found o e on clearance on their site for $10 with free shipping. It's light pink with white polka dots. Might be worth a shot checking their site if you're considering it? I got a gown and robe set from motherhood for my first delivery and I liked the gownie so much better.

I'm not planning to wear it during actual delivery- just post shower etc-- It sounds like they work for some folks-- how did you guys find the sizing?

For delivery I wore a Pretty Pusher gown I bought. I loved it - it was great! I hate hospitals gowns and didn't want to feel so exposed during early labor, so it was good for that. After delivery, I passed out in the bathroom, lol, so when I woke up in the hospital bed in my room, they had put me in a hospital gown and, at that point, I didn't care. Later that day I changed into some yoga pants and a tank top and that's pretty much what I wore for when we had visitors and the rest of the day. :3

I was so nasty that wearing anything other than hospital gowns and scrubs would have been useless.

@Mrs. Pink: I also got PJs but I didn't feel comfortable wearing anything with a waist. Didn't want to move to pull the pants down for checks with the nurses.

I got a gownie for my second delivery and absolutely loved it. For the delivery itself I wore the hospital's gowns but after I showered the next day, I wore it and loved it. So comfortable but pretty too.. And helpful for the doctors and nurses for checks, and for nursing. I got one for a few friends and they all wore them and raved about them too. I bled a lot but didn't get a speck on my gownie. Oh, I felt so much better about pictures, too! And visitors.

I wouldn't buy a gown like that, like others said it's pretty gross afterwards!
I was given a pajama robe set, I took it with me and forgot to put it on. It's also for nursing afterwards.

thanks for the thoughts-- that's a good point, maybe I'll get some cute new dark colored PJs (just incase?) for after the baby comes to wear when people come visit! It'll probably be cheaper that way too

Um, NO.
First of all, I wanted to wear the gowns they provided because I felt disgusting.
On the second day, I felt great and wanted to wear nice PJs and put some make-up. I would not have worn a gownie.

I got one from a friend at my shower and wore it the next day b/c when else would I wear it? Personally, I would have rather just wear a tank and my comfy pants or just the hospital gown. I didn't think it was worth it. Then again, she loves them and wore them with all three of her kids.

Honestly, I was happy to wear the hospital's gowns. There's so much disgusting stuff going even after delivery (the bleeding! the sweating!) that I was thrilled to just throw the gown in the laundry bin every few hours and put on a clean one. Eventually I just wore one of DH's t-shirts and some scrub pants. That's just my experience though - to each her own! :)

Curious as well. I got two as hand-me-downs from a friend, not sure if it's worth bringing 'em to the hospital or if I should just toss 'em and wear the hospital's... I personally wouldn't buy one, but since they're free, I'm considering it!

I wasn't sure where to throw this category wise LOL but has anyone here ever worn a Gownies hospital gown? I'm trying to decide if it's worth it-- for after delivery... how are there sizes/quality?

the ones I'm talking about are these:
