We have the graco milestone, which from what I've read is very similar. We didn't get ours until my daughter was 7 months, but I think it would absolutely work for a newborn.

We have a Graco4ever but bought it when we were moving our daughter from her infant seat to a convertible. Now that we are expecting again Ive been wondering if we should use the 2nd one we have for an infant seat or not. As annoying as it is to buy a infant seat for such a short time I just think not being able to remove the seat and use it for a stroller and such when they are sleeping seems really hard.

@Mrs. Pen: The seat is basically guaranteed to fit a newborn, in fact it often will fit a preemie. It will obviously take up more room at the newborn angle but as long as the bubble is as far on the line as possible it will be a safe angle for a newborn. Often the head portion of the insert can make slump worse for newborns - you can use the body insert without the head insert though. (But the head insert can not be used without the body insert FYI)

@catgirl: thanks for the feedback! We really like the seat. It has an infant insert, so I'm thinking it does set it apart from some of the other convertible seats that don't offer the correct recline position for newborns.

@Mrs. Toad: good to hear! We encountered the issue when I bought my sister a convertible seat as a gift (I think it was a safety 1st) thinking it'd save her money in the long run... but when she tried to place a newborn in it, his head slumped forward and it didn't really recline enough, so she still needed an infant seat for awhile. That was over five years ago so I wasn't sure if the newer seats were designed better :) it seems to recline enough from me testing it out with my son's baby doll 😂

We have a Chicco NextFit and have used it from birth for both babies. We have not had a problem getting the seat reclined.

We didn't use ours with a newborn but unless your car has very sloped seats you shouldn't have a problem. You will want the seat as reclined as possible based on the level indicator. If you are using the most reclined setting and still have room on the level indicator you can add a rolled towel or pool noodle to further recline the seat - this is not needed the vast majority of the time though. Also when installing push where baby's butt would go to manipulate the angle of the seat.

We bought a graco 4ever. I know that most convertible car seats don't actually decline quite enough for newborns... did anyone here use the graco 4ever with their newborn? How was the fit??
I'm trying to decide if I should also get an infant seat or just plan to use the graco 4ever straight away.
