@Foodnerd81: nope! We ended up trying the bassinet from our stroller (put in a wooden stand thingie),which LO hated--she hated basically everything that was a flat surface, unless I let her sleep on her tummy.

So eventually, we just moved the full size crib into our room next to my bed, and LO slept on her tummy there, until she was old enough to sleep in the merlin suit, which finally got her back sleeping.

@Anagram: if you really just want it for six months or so I think it would work fine then. I only started using the one at my parents when C was over a year (it had been my nephews) so I guess that's why I'm so annoyed that it's too small.

@Foodnerd81: yeah, I'm mainly looking for something smallish to fit next to our bed for the first 6 months. For LO#1, we put her full size crib in our room at the foot of the bed, but I think it'd be more convenient to have the baby right next to me so I don't even have to stand up in the night (DH does the diaper changing).

And if we travel (which we do a lot), I'd prefer something small. We already have to travel with the Lotus for LO #1, and the car seats, and the stroller. It gets to be a bit much. And neither of our parents have any kind of baby gear at their house.

@edelweiss: Oh wow! Using it till 1 or 1.5 is exactly the kind of info I want. I'm sure we'll be going to one of our family's houses for Christmas, and I just wanted to make sure that a 6 month old would still fit--if I could use it longer, even better!

I really like our lotus, but it's not great for infants since it doesn't have levels, so you'd have to zip/unzip every time---I hate the noise that makes. As it is now, we just put LO #2 in over the top and she lays down on her own, but I can't even reach the bottom when I lean over if I were trying to put an infant down there.

I think I would also buy the extra bassinet pad--good tip about the pillowcase, thanks!

My parents have one at their house and I wish it was a regular pnp. At 1.5 years it was too small for my 50th percentile DD- as in she can't lay flat with her legs straight. I guess if you only want it for the first several months and the regular one won't fit, it will do the trick, but I'm not impressed. I just feel like it's not that much more convenient than a regular pnp for the shorter lifespan. LO never had a problem with the firmness of the mattress though.

@edelweiss: I heard you could put a king size pillowcase around the mattress but mine didn't fit. I had to tuck it over top and it wasn't that secure at all, but she was over a year when I used it so I wasn't super concerned.

we had this for LO, for the first few weeks before we moved him to the crib in the nursery. i plan on using it for LO #2 for however many months before he is ready to share a room with LO #1. it's a good size--i think the last time we used it was for a trip when LO #1 was somewhere between 1 and 1.5 years old (it wasn't "roomy" by any means at that point, but it was fine).

it's not as sleek or cool as the lotus crib, which i also tried, but it's actually comparable in size, and maybe just a couple of pounds heavier.

before i got the travel lite, i heard from some folks that they thought it was a bit hard, so i bought a bassinet pad, and covered the mat and pad in a pillowcase (i think a queensize one).

Has anyone ever had one of these? Did you like it? Pros/cons?

I'm looking for something cheapish for baby #2 when they are in our room for the first 6 months or so--and the bonus of this is that we can still easily take it with us to visit family. We already have a lotus crib for LO #1 and a full size crib for when LO #2 is ready to go into the nursery.
