The more important question is what does the birth announcement look like? I  all things paper!

@ChiCalGoBee: yep that is what we used too!

"Proudly welcomed home by C, A, and Big Brother L"

If you were doing a normal list of three things, the correct way to use your commas would be either:

"item A, item B, and item C" or
"item A, item B and item C"

So I'd suggest going with @ChiCalGoBee: suggestion of saying "Proudly welcomed home by C, A, and Big Brother L".

You could also say "Proudly welcomed home by C, A, and Big Brother L" (I've seen it done in a similar vein to this before). I'm an English major, too, and still find myself playing around with "correct" grammar while having it sound the way I want.

@IRunForFun: That's a relief! I'm almost done with my degree and am majoring in English, so I was a bit embarrassed to ask. Haha!

@wonderstruck: No problem! I write for a newspaper and still get confused about proper comma usage sometimes!

ETA: Just eliminate the first comma!

I should know the answer to this, but I've written it out a million ways and it never looks right. I'm putting together D's birth announcement, and the commas in this sentence are driving me crazy! Which is correct?

Welcomed home by proud parents, C and A, and big brother, L.
or
Welcomed home by proud parents C and A and big brother L.

Or is there some option I'm not seeing? I feel like the first option has too many commas and the second option has too few. This is stupid but this was the fastest way I could think of to get a definitive answer since google wasn't helpful.
