Thanks everyone. I've repeatedly explained that the pediatrician doesn't just suggest treatments for no reason and isnt out to benefit financially. I did express to her that it's hard she's unsupportive but we're doing the therapy instead of taking a chance it might get better on its own.

I have no problem being very blunt and direct and would tell her this isn't up for discussion or opinions anymore - at least not until she gets her MD. It's hard for me to understand why anyone wouldn't want the best for their grandchild.

I'm sorry :( i feel like grandparents have a hard time understanding some of the stuff now a days and think everything is a gimmick, since stuff like this wasn't big when we were growing up (mainly bc we all prob slept on bellies!)

My mom didn't believe me about C's milk protein intolerance either and it drove me crazy. We went home for 2 weeks over holidays and she kept making dishes with "just a little butter" bc surely just a little wouldn't hurt him. It wasn't until I started seeing blood in his poop and showing her articles on it that she took it seriously.

I would just remind your mom that she's looking through a grandma's eyes, not a doctor's eyes, and that while she is still perfect this will help her in the future. And maybe that if she can't support you you'd rather she not comment at all because she's making things harder for you.

We went through this, not with physical therapy, but something else. We just stopped bringing it up and if others brought it up we were firm and short, "we're following his specialist's guidance and we are very happy with the progress he's made." And then we changed the subject. We stopped getting opinions pretty quickly, but we're also not local to either side of the family, so they didn't have a lot of opportunities to voice opinions. I also kept it off Facebook.

LO2 had her first physical therapy appointment for plagiocephaly on Friday. For right now, she's just going every four weeks and we can decide thirty minutes or an hour plus we have guidelines to follow at home. The diagonal difference between her right and left sides is 13mm, which I guess is high moderate to severe, depending on the scale, and they want her down to 4-5mm. Most people we've talked to about it are supportive.

My mom, however, seems convinced it's a scam. She said she knows someone who spent a ton of money, stopped going, and their son grew out of it. I'm not sure how she knows the kid grew out of it if she stopped going. I've explained all of it to her, implications if it doesn't get better, what we need to do, and the severity. I've also explained that holding her head up and tummy time help, but she needs stretches and pressure on her right side to kind of shift things. She's still asking if I'm sure it's legit, why we can't just lean her the other way, and why I don't think she'll just grow out of it.

I've told her it's hard that she's not supportive and she said, "I know, she just looks perfect to me." I guess I'm just needing to vent and see if anyone has been in a similar situation? She keeps telling me her head looks fine but if I believe them to take her.
