I needed this, thank you! I'm a perfectionist by nature. I don't like it and I struggle with it as I'm raising my daughter. This helps to put it back in perspective for me.

I love this! I think that our generation definitely puts too much pressure on ourselves as parents. I think that there is something to say for being a little more laid-back (although not laid-back enough to leave the sleeping baby in front of the store... lol).

Too funny. The part about putting your kid in the front lawn with the dog watching him? My Gram did this, minus the dog. Being outside was the only way she could get my uncle to stop crying as a baby. :-)

@bebefly: I find myself using the moby lately because the extra layers keep him warm. So far I haven't taken him out in temps lower than 30 degrees. I put two pairs of pants on him, with shoes and leg Warmers under his pants/over his shoes. I put mittens on his hands, a light fleece jacket and a hat. Then I wear my coat over the wrap- if it's terribly cold I bring one of his blankets it and tuck it in around him.

They do make baby carrier winter covers, like the peekaru and they're not too expensive but my method works pretty great this far and frankly I don't plan to go out walking in temps lower than maybe 20 for longer than 20-30 minutes so I'm not too worried. I find with the wrap I stay really warm as well.

@Mrs. Pen: ummm.....never actually thought of that. Another question - how do you babywear in the winter? :/ i'm just thinking logistics with the whole coat thing ....

@bebefly: I haven't used the ktan but I've heard it's easier to use than the moby. I watched a few videos on how to tie the moby and it only took about a week to get the hang of it.

I love the beco! LO wasn't a fan when he was younger unless it was DH carrying him, he preferred the closeness of the moby or sling with me. But he loves it now no matter who carries him.

The ring sling took a little practice too but I use it a lot! Especially this summer- it was the least hot. I actually loved it when he was a little baby too. Have you tried looking up some YouTube videos for some pointers on getting a secure fit?

@bebefly: I have two, just ordered another one and still want more!!! They're addicting haha! I have the moby, beco, maya ring sling and still want a girasol woven wrap. Makes life soo much easier; and I don't even have an overly clingy baby.

@bebefly: I am trying, and have been his whole life, to engage him more in my activities such as menial chores, food prep etc. I do love babywearing for that reason. I definitely want to have devoted play time with him, but encourage independence!

@FutureMrsMcK: thankfully Andrew's only been fussy the last....oh man, 4 hours.....and he'll sleep fine as long as he's cuddled into my neck/chest, but move him out of that position and you'll pay, oh my lord. Sigh.

@bebefly: ugh, Evan threw a fit anytime I put him down AT ALL today. He won't sleep at all. I've been trying for 3 hrs...started to get really frustrated so I handed him off to DH for a bit so I could recharge my patience.

Thank you for posting this. My failing feeling tonight is due to a fussy baby who won't sleep, but even if it doesn't pertain to my particular night reading that was a balm...I was literally sitting just a few minutes ago thinking about what a failure I am...
