@T.H.O.U.: Definitely! I haven't heard of any other seat that has these specific kind of fit issues though (straps not being able to be set right, but not meeting the requirements for next setting, etc).

I thought it was crazy that the lowest setting straps didn't fit her 1 mth old given it was well within the seats stated limits. :/

This article brings up a lot of good points that no matter what seat people are using, they need to check for.

@runsyellowlites: yeah she mentioned taking it somewhere so hopefully she did or will do. I know a week ago she said she had it sitting in her car but not installed then they went on vacation so that could be the case too. I didn't ask.

My SIL doesn't put our nephew in his carseat correctly and actually put a pic on Instagram of him in his carseat. She got chewed out by a bunch of strangers. I have told her and my MIL that it was incorrect too. I think I annoyed them but I just want to make sure the kiddos are safe.

@MamaJ: Well if it's rear facing as long as they come from below it'd be fine... maybe they could just put them on the lowest setting to fit both? I'm not sure the recline requirements... I know some seats have different settings for different size/weights so that'd have to be redone everything if it was different.

You could always direct them to a local cpst to make sure it's in right for your nephew & they'd probably suggest a better seat too... atleast if they keep the seat you know your nephew would be safe!

@runsyellowlites: yeah my MIL said they had a really hard time installing it. I glanced at it last night and didn't look reclined and looked a little weird. Plus LOs cousin is taller than him so I think the straps will probably be too high for LO. There is no real reason for him to ride with her though. At least not yet.

@MamaJ: @MamaCate: I know that I've also heard from numerous tech that it's difficult to get installed properly, even for them, so for most parents it likely wouldn't be done correctly. :/

As long as it's installed correctly & your child fits in it properly (unlike the bloggers issues of slots too high & not high enough) then it's just the same as any other seat... definitely not all that it's said out to be though & that can make for dangerous situations for parents that just don't know. eep!

I had a friend recommend this seat when I was looking for a convertible but I stopped researching once I found it on the 'not recommended' list. This reinforces my decision!

Ooh my MIL just bought this seat for her car. (LO has never actually ridden with her but his cousin does) I will have to read it because she was gonna get us one and have us pay her back but we got a britax instead.

Well, not great as in it's a great seat, but great in that it's pretty thorough with some of the common issues. I know the Alpha Omega is a pretty common seat out there, and since I've found quite a bit in the tech world on not being too keen on it I thought I'd share this csftl blog post on it (showed up on my fb feed today)! :)

http://csftl.org/the-alpha-omega-why-its-neither-the-first-nor-the-last-nor-the-elite-car-seat/
