The microarray results came back today and show no chromosomal anomalies whatsoever. So baby is negative for T21. Not only that, but baby is a girl! I can't imagine what I would have done without you ladies. And my heart goes out to everyone who did not get the amazing news I did. I found out that since the cell sample they took from the CVS was only 5mg (they were aiming for 30mg), the lab still has to grow the cells and it could take another one to two weeks for the test results. Tomorrow I'm having the cell-free DNA test in case those results come back sooner but they could take 1-2 weeks. Ugh. That felt like the only way things could have gotten worse at the time - so I hear ya. It was transabdominal, and just before I was suddenly really scared of the pain, but it actually wasn't bad. Unfortunately the doctor was only able to collect 5mg of villi (she was hoping for 30mg). The genetic counselor said we had three options: FISH test (which would take 2 days but is very basic and would leave no sample in case it was inconclusive), growing a culture (which could take 3 weeks and might not work) or microarray test (best option for success but would take 2 weeks). We chose the microarray and are now two days into the two week wait. Ugh. I'm trying to focus on positive things right now, but to be honest, it isn't easy. Thank you all for the support, though! It does help.</p> <p>@chuckles: It is so helpful that DH and I are on the same page.
