The schools I went to 2/3/2.
The schools my LOs will go to 5/5/4.

DH and I talked about it and made a decision to live in an area that offered other things that will improve our quality of life and has OK schools. I don't really think this website is a good tool. I agree with a previous poster that niche.com is more accurate.

I obsessively checked schools before we bought our house! E-10 M-8 H-9
My schools growing up were 7/8/8, my husband went to a 10/9/9 district in bumfunk!

My elementary is ranked 6, middle school 6, and high school 8.

The schools in our current city (any one of which LO could be assigned to, as it's a lottery system) range from 3 to 9, with the common high school as a 6.

I don't really trust ranking sites like this though because (at least in our state) the ranking are based on test scores and the test scores tend to correlate directly with household incomes and real estate prices. I have also heard from some teachers I know that they prefer niche.com for school rankings.

I only attended middle and high school here... Ranked 10 & 9.

Schools in our town that LO(s) will attend are 8-10.

I didn't look at this website but we knew this town was a very good school district.

Where I went to school 4/5  The district has gone to hell in a handbasket in recent years and I've been gone for over 20 years. I'm not sure that's a fair representation of my experience.

Where my LO goes to school? 9. Her Jr High is also rated a 9. Our high school is lower rated. But it is huge and I think it's a school with opportunity if you want it.

Here is another related link and I also had a poll asking whether people thought their schools matched the rating.

I have read some reviews and I have the impression that this site is like Yelp for schools. With so few reviews for the schools I looked at, a couple bad reviews dam easily skew the rating. I prefer to look at state rankings and test scores. Our public schools in this area appear to be slightly better than average, and I'm hoping I can get involved in the PTA when DS is school age.

I live in a diverse city, so that means lots of kids that live in poverty, don't speak English as a second language, etc, which tends to drive the numbers down. The schools are generally between 4 and 7, nothing on the high end. I went to these schools years ago (like 30+ in some instances) so while I turned out fine, the district is suffering from stagnation and a lot of people are leaving for better.

I chose to send my son to an unrated school. It is brand new which is why it's unrated, but the principal is highly sought after and I think my son is in excellent hands.

My elementary and high school are 9s, my middle school is a 10. My high school earned Blue Ribbon Award when I was there (20 years ago), so it's always been good.

My kids' elementary school is a 9, middle school is a 10, and high school is a 7. Interestingly, 2 years ago when we bought our house, the high school was a 9. I know there have been complaints about overcrowding in the district, so maybe that's caused it to drop in rating?

Went to catholic schools so not ranked- but I was surprised a number of public schools near where I grew up were ranked higher than I thought.

My LOs will attend 9s and 10s. I didn't look at great schools as much as our state rankings, but we bought a house in this town largely for the well known excellent schools. (Ranked between 9th and 25th in the state depending on the list).

Did you look at these scores when buying a house?

The schools I attended are all 10s. I know this is how they currently rank. Back when I was in school, this site didn't exist and I wonder what it would have been ranked. I was surprised to see it got a 10. I know my school district was highly ranked but I thought it would be a 9.

We are buying a house but I'm finding them to be 7 and 8s.
