It's one of those once-a-year dishes that I really enjoy during the holiday. I've made it the 'traditional' way using canned beans, soup, etc. and I've made a homemade from scratch version. Which one I make each year depends on the audience (some of DH's cousins would NOT be happy if I showed up with a new version!) and how much time I have for that dish. I like them both just fine - so if I have a more simple menu planned I will make my own.
