yes, it was an early oversupply issue, I think, but I never did anything about it because she was growing fine and her doctor wasn't concerned.

I had this with my first LO and as others have said, it was because he wasn't getting the right ratio of fore and hind milk.

Yes, she had green mucusy poop most of the time until she started solids. She never showed any other symptoms of anything or discomfort, so there wasn't ever a need to change anything.

@Foodnerd81: yes , it’s very possible.. my supply is pretty abundant this time! She probably isn’t getting much hind milk. Thanks, everyone! I’m going to work on keeping her on each breast longer to see if that changes anything.

My son had this and it went away completely on its own. I had read it was more foremilk that caused it I think?

@mrsbubbletea: my first had this at 4 months for over a month. Only there was lots of mucus.

I didn’t cut anything and it took over a month for it to go back to normal colour and consistency. I took lots of pictures to show to the doctor. There were big mucus globs and it was gross and alarming to me, but he was never concerned.

I briefly tried block feeding, but I didn’t know that it was a supply reducer and after speaking with a breastfeeding support person I stopped because I got scared. Probably only did it for a week. I usually only use one side per feeding so oversupply may be causing at least the green colour and you could test it out for a brief period of time.

@CatchAFallingStar: my 6 month old has green poop with a think a little more mucous than is normal. The thing is, I swear her poop was typical breastfed yellow and for some reason at 4months became like super green and very frequent. She’s totally happy and thriving so I haven’t really considered doing anything about it. She’s eating solids now so we’ll see how t continues to change!

@CatchAFallingStar: any chance you have an over supply? Is she draining one breast completely before switching sides?

@Raspberry: same here actually. Never any blood in her poop, just green because of the foremilk/ hind milk imbalance due to my over supply.

My son had this and the only thing that helped was block feeding to reduce oversupply.

Did any breastfed moms have a baby with green mucus poop and NOT cut anything out of your diet? If so, did it clear up on its own?
