yeah, that's crazy. it might be behind average but not a true delay from anything I've heard.

LO did not crawl at all until 11 months (and she never crawled normally, only did the butt scoot though she was fast!). She did not walk until 18 months (though it was a different process than kids who walk early because one day, when she decided she had it figured out, she just started walking like she'd been doing it forever!).

Anyway, we had her evaluated at 17 months to be sure but she didn't qualify. No one was really too concerned. I think kids just approach it differently. LO has amazing fine motor skills which have always been her focus. And she's caught up to normal on other gross motor like climbing, jumping, etc (now 2.5).

I think she was a little silly to alarm you like that, but at the same time, I don't think it hurts to have an evaluation if you are slightly concerned. You could just consider it a second opinion. Follow your mommy gut!

I took my LO at 8 months to be evaluated for a gross motor delay because he screamed his little face off when he was on his belly. He ended up crawling a week later, but I still found it helpful to get another opinion.

If she's reaching for things then I think she's fine. My LO was the same as yours and didn't crawl until recently at over 10 months. Now at 10.5 months she crawls well, pulls up and cruises...she's totally caught up.

Um, that's just crazy! DS didn't crawl until he was 10.5 months and never army crawled, just one day started crawling! At his 9m appt my dr said they don't even worry until they're not crawling by 15ish months. Don't stress, mama!

someone described our baby as delayed because she was not crawling, shuffling, standing, or cruising at 9 months, which I thought was a bit early to decide that! She is still behind average at 13 months, buut no medical professionals seem concerned about it. I think it's just something to keep an eye on this early.

It sounds like your LO is on her way to more mobility! My LO 2 is 15 months and she does not stand unassisted, pull up, crawl, etc.

We had a health visitor come today to see my almost 9 month old (routine visit). LO isn't mobile yet - she sits beautifully and she is starting to pull to stand (we don't really have anything the right height!), and she walks when we hold her hands but she's not standing unsupported, cruising, crawling, bum shuffling, anything.

She leans and ends up on her knees sometimes when she's reaching for things but immediately her knees collapse beneath her. She doesn't seem super interested in moving, although she is very keen on standing. Health visitor told me that she has a gross motor delay and that if she isn't crawling or walking in a month that we need to follow up for intervention.

Um, what? Does this seem a little crazy to you? I thought crawling was an optional milestone and as far as I know, gross motor delay is only considered if LO isn't walking by 18months...right? I don't want to discount it if she has a delay of course, just trying to get some perspective.
