@scg00387: just a random thought, and others may disagree :) but....I don't really see 2t as a size up from 24m, but more a similar size with a different cut/proportion. My kids wear both sizes interchangeably right now, and 2t is just slightly slimmer/longerwith no onesies and wider neck holes, 24m is a little boxier. When they grow out of these, we'll just be up to 3t.

@yin: I haven't tried their 2T pants, we had lots of their baby sized sweats though, that's a good idea!

@Mrs. Chipmunk: I have that pattern! I'm happy to make them; but I'm glad you mentioned them in case someone else is reading and wants to check them out on Etsy who doesn't sew themselves.

I miss cloth diaper butts. My almost 3 year old is still swimming in 2T pants with just an underwear. Have you tried H&M?

@Silva: you know I love me some Zutano, but again, those don't come big enough

@bushelandapeck: I have *not* tried Gymboree -- I'll check it out. But yeah, we're in 18-24 month now and it's all dandy, I'm just thinking ahead since 2T seems so much slimmer!

Have you tried Gymboree? I have several pairs of non stretchy pants from them that fit well over cloth diapers. I also found that the HM brand fits pretty well too, and most have adjustable waists. We have to use a double insert even during the day, because lO is such a heavy wetter, and those brands work well for us (LO is in 18-24m/2T at 18mos old).

@scg00387: in my experience, Zutano is cut pretty wide- you'd probably still have to size up...

these are the best: http://www.zutano.com/product/K/bodysuit.html?child=K280-MULT-18M#WHAT%20A%20ZOO%20BABY%20BODYSUIT

@MerryC: that's a good idea about taking a pair along! I don't think we could get much trimmer though - it's one single cotton flat, in a flip cover.

@Baby Boy Mom: we *only* do stretchy pants haha, he complains if I don't! Rompers are a good call though -- I'll have to make them in his size now, 18-24 is too small :( He's only 15 months... in my dreams would potty training be on the horizon!! Ha!

@autumnlove: these were carters, 2t stretchy cargo pants! i've totally given up on non-stretchies

@Kimberlybee: :grin:

@Silva: I have a pattern cut to try them!! Hammer time!

We mostly did stretchy pants. In the summer it's easy with rompers, and overalls seem to work well too. I forget how old your LO is, but my first thought was impetus for potty training? ;)

I didn't notice it being too much of an issue, I avoided buying the skinny version of any pants. We have a lot of hand-me-downs though and I think pants were definitely wider a few years ago. If I am buying new pants I look for the interior adjustable waistband, that helps to get a better fit.

My nephews who are chunkier have to go with a specific brand. For example, he can only wear Gap jeans size 2 husky. You are so lucky you sew so well, or I should say he is lucky his mom sews so well.

I would try some other items/brands/styles. Not all 2T is super slim. Sometimes it helps me to bring a pair of clothes that fit snugly in my purse when I shop, then I can hold them up and compare to the new items I'm looking at.

If you find that you're still having an issue, you could either do trimmer diaper inserts, or get 3T and roll up the legs.

LO is currently in 24m pants and they fit fine. WE have one pair of 2t, which I know are meant to be slimmer, and holy cow they're way too tight over his booty.

Does this mean I have to make all his pants from here on out? What do people who don't sew do??
