At least the ones that I was very good friends with (and still am) they all knew their parents. But, I never tried to NOT let them meet their parents. I hope that I am the same with DD. One of the reasons I think my parents let me come and go as I pleased (within reason) was because they knew my friends, and their parents. And I will do the same with my kids. My husband had way too much freedom (his mom was off getting drunk and that kind of fun stuff) and he did whatever he wanted. No need for a balance between the two. But we lived in the country so the only way to know other people before kindergarten was through their parents. He has playdates with some of them sometimes, and one of us will go and get a chance to meet his friend's parents.</p> <p>My parents knew the parents of my friends who lived on my street, and the ones I met in elementary school. By high school though, they had pretty much stopped keeping track of what I was up to! They knew most of my friends though, just because I made most of my HS friends when I was really young. </p>
