He's such a cutie! I'm not trying to sway you either way, but 6 inches to me is quite a bit. Good luck!

I logged in for the first time in a long time just to respond to this! Your son is so cute. My 4 year old has a genetic disorder that's often associated with short stature (although not dwarfism), so hormones are something we've considered down the road.

I know several moms whose kids are on growth hormones, and one thing to consider is that it's not always about looks or fitting in or "being normal". Most things in our world - cars, cabinets, shelves at stores, etc - are set up for people of average height. While shorter folks can obviously function and find workarounds, an additional 6 inches of height could also just make life a little easier for your son. Just wanted to throw that out there as an alternative reason!

And sending a hug for you as well. Our son has an eye issue for which we've chosen a treatment that's half cosmetic/half actual medical basis. I went down the same road of thinking that doing this treatment meant that I didn't love how my son looked. I finally came to the place where I accepted that there wasn't a clear answer here, and I wanted to do my best to give him a good shot in life. We will always love him the way he is no matter what, and I think if you communicate that to your little guy in ways big and small, he will be just fine no matter what you choose to do

You are happy how he is! If you decide to do thr growth hormones, it is because you have decided that might be best for his future happiness not because you don't love him just the way he is. Good luck!

I haven't given my baby injections, but I'm friends with a sibling pair where one boy got growth hormone injections and the other didn't. The sibling that didn't get the injections wishes he could have, because he's under 5ft tall and is jealous of his brother, who is 5'6". I think most men would rather have the height. Rocky is so adorable!

@erinbaderin: Definitely agree with this. My husband and I are basically the same height - I'm average/tall for a woman, whereas he's short.

@anonysquire: I think since he's a boy, he'll definitely want to be taller as an adult, and if there's something you can do to help him there, I imagine he'd thank you for it in the future. He's certainly a cutey! <3

@anonysquire: I think being tall is different for women than men - I'm 5'8" and I've always wished I was a few inches shorter, but I know my husband, who is 5'7", would like to be a few inches taller.

@T.H.O.U.: @erinbaderin: @Mrs. Lemon-Lime: thank you ladies for weighing in!! I am tall and have always hated it, so maybe I'm letting that cloud my judgement. I shouldn't because it's his body, not mine! But at the same time I'm going to be filling him up with hormones. Shouldn't I be happy how he is? My internal struggles are so silly :/

He is so adorable!

I know a couple women that are 4'11" and even though I am only 3 inches taller I look like a giant next to them. Six inches is significant in my book. :goodluck:

I don't have any knowledge but I wanted to say a) He's so sweet! What a bright inquisitive little face! and b) I think 6 inches does seem like quite a lot, I can see that making a real difference as an adult.

@anonysquire: I'm not positive but I can ask. I think they were projected to be around 5' naturally but not sure what the final projects are now.

@T.H.O.U.: have they seen significant growth? Our doctor said that we could expect .5 inch a year. So he is projected to be around 4'2".... 6 inches doesn't seem like a whole lot?

What a cutie!

I just know that my niece and nephew did them as children and they both are VERY happy with the results and even though they dont love the daily injections, they are very willing to continue.

Today is the day we get things started with growth hormones for my 6m old. It should take a couple of months to get insurance to approve it and then we will start the daily injections this fall. I'm freaking out. I didn't want to do this, but pretty much every person told me that he would resent me when he's older if I didn't let him grow more than he would normally. Ugh! Hate decisions like this! Has anyone else started growth hormones for their baby?
