@rahlyrah: I can't wait til I get a 7 hour stretch! My LO is pretty good for 3 weeks I think. She usually gives me 3-4 hour stretches but if we could double that I'd be in heaven! It normally takes me awhile to fall asleep after putting her down, usually cause of her warthog sounds. Sounds like your LO is doing great in the sleep department!

@Anagram: Don't lose hope! He went from waking twice a night one night to a 7 hour stretch the next. I woke up terrified that he was dead! It pretty much stuck after that. We have a few rough nights here and there but he sleeps through the night most of the time.

@rahlyrah: omg. Lucky girl!! My baby is 8 weeks and she's so grunty still...and still waking up twice a night. I have a feeling that's not going to change drastically in the next 3 weeks, but a girl can dream!

@lawbee11: @Foodnerd81: @delight: He grew out of it! Every once in a while he will still get fussy in his sleep if he has gas or will babble/giggle in his sleep if he is dreaming. For the most part, he is a quiet sleeper now.

DD will occasionally whimper and fuss in her sleep - sometimes she even sticks out her lip and frowns, with her eyes closed. This usually occurs right as she's settling in for a long, evening sleep, or a few hours before she's up for the day. I usually wait her out, and sometimes just push the pacifier between her lips, and see if she'll take it. If she does, it will immediately calm her down, and she'll go right back to la-la land. Transferring her to my chest also works, but we co-bed, so it's an easy option.

My LO grunts and fusses and groans in her sleep too! It happens after her morning feeding. I mentioned this to the NP during her one-month wellness visit, and she thought it could be that since morning milk has the most nutrients she may have a harder time digesting it. (this doesn't really explain the night fussing others describe). Last week I was so sleepy and her noises were keeping me up, so I put her on my chest and immediately she stopped fussing and we both slept another hour. Having her in my bed terrifies me, but I figure since its a morning nap at that point, I sleep lightly and will wake if she rolls.

Ahhhhhh! I was wondering about this too. Glad this resurfaced. LO is so noisy at night. I won't be able to share a room much longer. She squeaks and sighs and grunts for hours on end. Only at night though. Her daytime naps are pretty quiet! It's amazing how much noise a tiny baby can make!

DS did this when he was a newborn, except he did it when he first went to bed. It was like he was trying to settle in or something. He grew out of it after a couple months.

Sometimes my girl sleeps super light after her 330-4am feeding. I'll doze through it but not solid. I think it's just light sleep because she's usually quiet

I used to move into the guest room at about 4am when M would start making noise in her sleep. I also started sleeping with a pillow over my head. There's something about being a new mom that makes you so much more sensitive to it too. DH wouldn't even hear it! Eventually we had to move her into her own room (2 months maybe?) and we all slept better.

@Anagram: Our white noise machine is in the bedroom and I've been sleeping in the living room with the baby so that I can have my pump and pump parts easily accessible. Maybe I should bring it out with me? I think that would drown it out some. I'd still hear him because he is in the RNP right next to my head, but it would definitely help.

My motto is if the eyes are closed, let them be! I read somewhere that the baby doesn't necessarily know it's sleeping, so the cries and movements appear as if they are awake and mad. But really it's just their brain processing a dream or something.

Usually, B is pretty silent when he sleeps. There are times (like right now) where he fusses, whines, and grunts in his sleep though. His eyes are still closed, he isn't crying, but he grunts and fusses pretty consistently. It tends to happen in the early morning hours between 4-6 am but isn't limited to these times.

I'm not sure if I should check his dipe and try to feed him or just let him sleep. I can't sleep through it because he is so noisy.

I should note that DH and I sleep in shifts. He lets me sleep from 9pm to 3am so during this time he feeds B bottles of pumped milk. Maybe it's gas?

Advice please!
