@banana: nope! She doesnt spit up much at all. Im noticing her tummy doesnt seem to enjoy the formula as much as the breastmilk but I expected that!

Tonight she was wailing so gave her some of the mylicon and shes quite calmed down now. Im assuming it was gas or a reaction to something I ate/formula today.

@nskillet: Does your baby spit up a lot? And does the spit up smell acidic? My LO used to spit up a lot and it smelled acidic so the ped thought it could be reflux. We gave him Zantac up until 2 (maybe 3?) months and it helped a lot.

My daughter does this too! I just assumed that it's because she is a noisy sleeper while she is dreaming. (She's also a very noisy eater). Maybe it's less normal than I thought though...

@Mrsbells: Our daughter also sometimes makes noises like she's clearing her throat... especially soon after a meal. Did your pediatrician give you any tips for how to combat reflux? I don't know anything about this.

I have gripe water which I may try on her. She farts and makes plenty of poopy diapers! I also noticed she only does this when in her pack n play and rock n play sleeper. Any other tips?

DS grunts and strains sometimes when he is trying to break out of his swaddle. I just leave him, and he usually goes back to sleep.

My LO grunted/strained like crazy when he was a newborn. It was basically all day and it scared the heck out of me. He had reflux and major gas so looking back, I would say it was one or both of these (although I think it was more gas than anything). Have you tried Mylicon drops? We gave him Mylicon to help ease up the gas a bit and we did TONS of bicycle legs. After a month, he stopped making those noises.

Baby is 11 days old! im noticing this more now when shes in her "wakeful" moments she grunts, strains, and then is back to sleep. She is EBF for the most part with maybe 4oz of formula being supplemented a day when needed. Ive googled and everything says its normal but it can sound wicked intense!

She also has no problems pooping and has plenty of dirty diapers a day. Sometimes we do find a "fart stain" in a wet diaper though.

How old is your baby?

My baby is nearly 3 weeks and makes a lot of grunting noises and also sometimes sounds like she is trying to clear her throat, my Pedi told me that the clearing throat noises could be due to reflux but I'm not really sure about the grunting. I will ask about it at our next appointment
