@skibobrown: We decided on my sister because shes my best friend and she has kids already (2,4,7) which adding another kid or two if the unfortunate event occurs we should pass, would be a lot to handle, I know she can do it. Shes in a stable marriage and although they are not millionaires by any means they could provide for all the kids. She's the only person I feel comfortable leaving my children's lives with...my parents are not old but they just don't have the energy to take on this task, although I know they would help my sister a lot. DH has a brother and sister in law but for some reason I'm just not comfortable with them taking on the responsibility, even though they are awesome people. I guess its a comfort thing :)

We've been talking about this since before LO was born. She's 7 months and we still haven't done it- everything is harder to do now that she's here! I'll start bugging my husband about it again though, we really need to get it done. We'll go to our lawyer and have him do it.

We are still talking about our living trust, which would include the part about guardianship. We were actually told you could also work on it with a reputable paralegal for a fraction of the cost. We mostly haven't done it yet because we don't 100% love any of the options for people to leave LO with, but we are hoping to get something drafted by his first birthday in 2 months.

I'm just curious... how are you going to decide who baby's guardian should be in your will? I've thought about doing this, and I guess we'd pick my sister... although I'm not 100% excited about this idea. And of course I would have to see if my sister is actually on board. We will definitely get around to putting together a will at some point, but I doubt it will happen before baby is born b/c we're not that on top of things. I think we will definitely involve a lawyer to draw up the will.

Our LO isn't born yet but we are thinking about getting a guardianship will in the event that something should happen to both my husband and I. We wanted to do it before LO is born so that way, when he/she is born its already taken care of and its one less thing we need to worry about.

Do you have a guardianship will? Did you do it before or after your LO was born? Did you have an attorney write it up, or some other way? Thanks :)
