You all are lucky! My gym doesn't allow LOs under 1 year of age :( how's this postpartum mama supposed to get back in shape?? Dad watches him but it limits me to evenings. They charge $10 a month, and you can leave them in there for up to 2 hours.

I really need to get in shape and the break sounds like a dream. Are grannies usually who you find as caregivers? For some reason I expected young people with no childcare experience.

Gyms around here seem pretty expensive, which is what has kept me away. I'm like for the prices I've been quoted I could put it to use hiring a maid lol. Do you all find gyms to be expensive where you live?

I just did this with DS for the first time this week, he had a ball! He's 7 months and has never been looked after by anyone but me, DH or my MIL. I wish my gym had a pool and a cafe now, after hearing some of the experiences here! It only costs a dollar which is awesome, but it's also only open in the mornings.

@Foodnerd81: haha that's awesome! Ours doesn't have a bar but it does have smoothies, salads and sandwiches!! And a salon. I need to go to the gym to workout, and stop using the extras!

@anonysquire: the gym closest to me has a bar attached. I've definitely considered dropping the kids off and getting a drink! But that gym the childcare is $6-10 an hour per kid, so it would be minimum of $12 each time. I'll be joining a farther one that has an unlimited option.

@aprild: yes, you are over thinking things!!! They only pull me out of a workout if my kids poop. Which happens to be most of the time haha, they must be nervous poppers or something. I am someone who never gets a babysitter, never leaves my kids EVER!!! And this has been a game changer. I'm still close enough to see my kids if I need to or they need me, but get a little rest in.

Yes!! Our gym has a daycare and its included in the monthly price. We can use is 2.5 hours 2 times a day. So 5 hours if you come twice. Honestly.... Sometimes I go to sit by the pool and eat a meal alone while the kids are being watched. And sometimes I work out.... Sometimes...

I am a member at my local Y, but I don't use the free childcare. I know so many people who use it and like it, but I'm a SAHM with two kids, and I feel like it's a lot of work to bring them both there. Plus, my youngest doesn't nap well when we're not home, so I worry about messing up his nap schedule for the day by bringing him there. Or I worry about one of my kids needing something/getting mad, and I get pulled out of my workout. Am I overthinking things?

We also belong to the Y here in our new city -- 2 hrs of childcare/day is free with our membership. I would not survive as a SAHM without it! :) I've belonged to several gyms w/ childcare over the years and this one is by far the best: huge childcare rooms with a completely separate section for <15m...and kids gyms too, one for >3y that has a huge climbing structure and a free play area and a smaller room for 16mo-3y that has a smaller climbing structure, music, and a bunch of ride-on toys. They also have morning programming for the >15m kids where they read, do a planned craft, and have other options on specific days (yoga, music, etc) that you can sign up for.

We are members of the Y and I usually bring the boys there once a week. The childcare is free with family membership, which is about 75/mo. They seem to like it fine!

I'm trying to convince my husband to join the Y specifically for the childcare. We're military, so we actually have free access to the gym, but with no childcare it's difficult to utilize. He SAH, so it would definitely be beneficial to him, especially this summer.

@autumnlove: I wish I had started when LO was younger. At my gym they don't change diapers either, but will feed them anything you provide (no peanuts, though). $10 is a really good deal! You definitely should take all 3 tomorrow!

@Astro Bee: I pay $10 a month. I can leave her in there for up to 2 hours per day. (So far, only 45 mins for cardio) They call me if she needs a diaper change or if they think she is hungry.

The drop in rate is $5 per session for each kid. I might take all 3 kids tomorrow!

I did a trial membership this week. It's a pretty pricy gym, but sooooo soooo nice. I am really considering joining it over the more moderate priced one nearby, which is okay, but doesn't have as many classes, plus the equipment is a little older. I had my almost 1 year old in the gym daycare. The first day he freaked out after 45 mins, and they had to call me over the PA. He was better the second day. The max time they will allow you is 2 hrs and it's $5. Or unlimited biweekly for $16. How does that compare to yours?

I just joined a new gym 3 weeks ago and LO 3 has been going with me 3 times a week.

I sometimes struggle with getting her down for naps at home so it is nice to leave her with the grannies at the gym childcare. They usually get her to sleep right away!

Do you use the childcare at your gym?
