If you do not run, i would not go to a specialty running shoe store. Running shoes have a heel to toe motion sole that's different from court shoes/trainers (flatter sole that helps with any side-to-side motion.) I dislike wearing running shoes for dance classes and court sports. Bad memories of a high school sports injury.

That being said, i have been wearing Nike Free RNs for lifting and hiit classes and they have been great so far. It's a knit style so your feet don't feel completely restrictive like they do in a regular shoe, so they work well with my wide-ish feet.

I’d go to a running store and get fitted.

I would definitely go to a store for something like this, you’re going to want to try them on to make sure they’re comfortable. All running shoes fit slightly differently.

I have a kind-of-wide but not really wide foot too. I love my Nike Free RN flyknit sneakers--have them in two colors. They'd fit the bill for the kind of use you're talking about.

I am looking for a new pair of sneakers to wear to the gym. I don’t really run, but do classes (Zumba, body pump) and elliptical type machines. My foot is sort of wide but not wide enough for most wide width shoes.

Any recommendations for sneakers good for general gym work outs, supportive but flexible, run wide? Or key words to look for? Cross trainers seem TOO supportive or stiff. Or best stores to go to in person? I usually just shop online but need to narrow it down.
