My LO started in the first percentile, moved to the third, stayed at the 5th for awhile, dropped down to the 2nd then made her way back to the 5th and just in the last couple weeks hit the 8th for weight, she's super easy and happy. She's 10 weeks old and our pediatrician hasn't expressed concern at all....I think it's only a concern if they see a dramatic drop in the percentile.

It sounds like he's following the same growth curve and is doing great! I was told that it's only a concern if your LO falls 2 growth curves.

So it sounds like he's stayed in the same percentile range. Was your doctor concerned?

we did a babes-in-arms (at home) weight check at 14weeks (so 3.5 months) and he was still 13lbs.

At his 2 month checkup he was 11lbs (between 10-25%), 15.4 for head (between 5-10%), and 22.1 for Length (between 5 and 10%)

Two of my friend have very petite babies. They are healthy, just tiny. As long as he's on his curve, I wouldn't worry.

As long as he's not dropping percentiles then he's fine. A low percentile on its own is not problematic. It just means that he's on the small end for babies his age.

LO has always been on the lower end, around the 14th percentile. I wouldn't worry as long as he is still on the curve and is meeting milestones.

Firstly, if you are breastfeeding, make sure they are using the right chart. Check out the WHO charts for breastfeeding. Breastfed babies tend to even out a little earlier than formula fed babies.

Are you concerned because of something you see or just because of the chart? I wouldn't worry unless you see something else that is concerning.

As long as he's about on the curve I wouldn't worry. We have the opposite problem, DS is on the high end of the percentiles, but he's on the curve.

I had the same question as HILSY85. Also, are you or DH smaller? Were you small as babies? I understand it is only a real concern if they drop in percentile.

We're not there yet, but I would ask the same question as PP, has he always been little? If so, I wouldn't worry. If this is new, I'd mention my concerns to the ped.

We had our 4-month check up today even though he's pretty much 4 and a half months, and he falls under the 10% percentile for height (24inches) and weight (13lb12oz), and between 25-50% for the head circumference (16.5inches).
Gulp.

Everything else is fine - hitting all the milestones (early, in fact), nurses well, plenty of wet & dirty dipes and is generally a very happy and smiley ball of sunshine.....but I gotta admit, I'm still a bit worried....
Anyone else have an LO who was in a low percentile? How did things turn out?
