Glad you didn't get it!

I was going to add, a vicious stomach bug is going around our daycare and somehow, it skipped over both our kids and only dh and I had it! Well, lo1 had a day when she stayed home because she was low-energy and said she didn't feel well, but no fever or vomiting/diarrhea, so that's a huge win!

@SweetiePie: I think a lot of stomach bugs are spread only after the symptoms start, through the puke and poop germs. Not totally doomed. When they are at school people puke, that doesn't necessarily mean the whole class gets it. (But I get puke anxiety every time my kid says someone puked haha)

I have some kind of Clorox hydrogen peroxide spray and more for refills that supposedly kills norovirus. But last stomach bug I held it off for awhile and eventually my two older ones both got it..yuck.

Good luck!!

I got these during the last stomach bug- they claim to kill norovirus germs. I used them on commonly touched surfaces throughout the day and wiped with bleach and water every night. It was a really bad one my kids got, and one came down with it as the other was finally recovering, so I was crazy. But dH and I didn’t get it.

I agree on using bleach. When I know we have stomach bug germs, I use a bleach and water solution to wipe down all the doorknobs and light switches and other common surfaces, and I would wipe down toys I know she was playing with a lot that are bleachable. And yes, bathroom surfaces, although I doubt she really contaminated those while she was there. (A little bleach in the bathroom never hurts anyway, right??) Lysol wipes don’t kill the norovirus.

I would also have you and the kids take some probiotics. Again- I don’t know if it will help but it can’t hurt.

My kids got an awful stomach bug that was going around last spring and it was just terrible. But i don’t think it’s inevitable. Fingers crossed and good luck!

@LemonJack: I agree the smell is gross but can't beat spray on wipe off! Keeping stuff wet for 60 seconds always seems like forever to me

@MamaBear87: I agree it’s harmless, but I can’t stand the smell! The peroxide stuff I used I found online, and kills the viruses in 60 seconds. I’ve never seen it in stores though.

@LemonJack: bleach is completely harmless once dry and is the only think that kills pretty much on contact. The peroxide stuff often needs to sit and stay wet for a prolonged period of time to work.

I'd bleach spray everything, like make 10 to 1 dilute and just spray down the playroom. Once it's dry you're good. For what it's worth my daughter got a stomach bug last year, I got it because she threw up all over me a couple times but my husband was fine and he helped take care of both of us so you'll likely be just fine

@Mrs. Champagne: I think there are a few diff ones but I was reading some are contagious during the incubation period. That’s why I’m scared!

Aren’t usually those sort of bugs passed through germs from puke/poop? I would go crazy with the bathroom in case she pooped there and then hope for the best!

@LemonJack: hahaha ok. Dishwasher is a good idea. We have lots of things that could go through dishwasher and that’s a heck of a lot easier than wiping or bleaching then rinsing then drying.
Ugh. Part of me feels like damage is already done. She already licked toys he then played with.
Praying she ate something that didn’t sit well or it wasn’t contagious yet 😩

@SweetiePie: Normally I just bleach bathroom surfaces (toilet, floor around it, countertops) and door handles. I just use a bleach spray.

This last time I went crazy (it was our second nasty stomach bug in a month) and bleached everything! I filled up the tub and soaked toys in bleach water, ran other toys through the dishwasher, and even put some bleach in with a lot of the laundry). That’s overkill I think, but we were desperate. 😂

Edited to add that there are also some hydrogen peroxide based sprays that are able to kill norovirus and other stomach bugs. I prefer that to bleach, but it can be harder to find at the store.

@LemonJack: what do you bleach??? Like fill a tub with water and bleach and put any submergable toys in? Or do you just mean bathroom surfaces?

You are not necessarily doomed! Some viruses aren’t contagious until after you start to throw up. It just depends upon what kind of bug she has. Good luck. Stomach bugs are the worst!

The only suggestion I would give you is to make sure you have some bleach on hand. If your son does get it, the best way to try to prevent spreading it is to bleach, bleach, bleach. It’s the only time I use bleach!

Had a 4 hour play date in our apt yesterday and they ripped through every single toy we have. Got a text this AM that the little girl was puking all night. It is not possible for me to wash all of the toys and many aren’t washable anyway. I Lysol-wiped down surfaces I know she touched and are easy (dining table, play kitchen, door handles, sinks).
And I threw away one thing I know I saw her put on her lips (toy eggs) because it’s not worth the $20 to try and save.

We’re pretty much f*cked right? I’m kind of bracing myself - not if but when.
Has anyone had similar exposure and everyone was fine? We’ve never had a stomach bug. I mean the kids haven’t. My husband and I both have but we were able to quarantine. But this seems like my entire apt is infected.

She ate a PBJ here and left the crusts. My son begged to eat her scraps and now I’m so glad I said “no that’s weird” 😂 But, yeah. They were all over each other.
