I was only there for a couple hours but since we didn't do the tour it was nice to see what the rooms looked like! Scared me half to death. I remember it very clearly because all I could think was "women do this all the time" on rapid fire repeat. It was one of my proudest moments in school, not because of the baby, but because she didn't tear (thanks to the previous instruction from the midwives we also followed). At my hospital, you stay in the same room you deliver in, so I had been in a room when I toured and also when I visited my BFF after she had her baby. There was a really scary moment when her BP dropped to 55/28, and later they had to stop her epidural because she wasn't pushing correctly. And then she proceeded to push for two more hours. She got an episiotomy and tore allll the way back on top of it. When the baby was coming out I saw the head and for a split second thought it was the whole baby and that it was so small! (I had never seen a birthing video!) I was so traumatized that I didn't want to have sex for like a month afterwards, and bagged it on top of the BC pill!
