@mediagirl: Sounds like a good plan! I think the trick is to find something that will cleanse and moisturize without weighing it down.

I have oily baby-fine hair that is super straight. After dealing with it forever, my biggest advice is a blunt cut with no layers. Everyone always says layers add body but not for my type of hair. The oil and fineness of the hair just make it look thinner and stringer. A collarbone length blunt cut is the way to go IMO! Also Aveda makes this hair product called Confixor that works like a mousse but doesn't leave that nasty residue or weigh down the hair!

@mediagirl: Here's the first time I threw in some curls (at bedtime). They fall throughout the day, but it really does make a difference.

@LindsayLou: thank you. I found a Sulfate-free Aveeno shampoo that I will try. I use an Aveeno mens shampoo and love it so maybe I'll have us both try this one.

@MamaG: love the idea for the curls in the morning! I'll try that.

Her hair looks like it's similar in texture to mine. I agree with previous posters about sulfate free shampoo, frequent washing, frequent brushing, and super light weight set angling sprays. I also suggest frequent haircuts.

My daughter has the same hair, but longer (like nearing her bottom). I've accepted it. She loves her hair long so there is no way I'm getting it shorter. And I don't want the maintenance of bangs.

We wash hair three times a week. I use OGX Teatree mint shampoo and conditioner on her hair. We use this because of the teatree - we've dealt with lice about a year ago and I'd like to avoid it again.

Two things that we recently started doing differently that make a difference. I use "It's a 10" brand spray on her hair as a detangler/conditioner. It's pricey and I use it on my hair as well. I also throw a few long spiraly curls in her hair with the curling iron each morning. It takes me just a few minutes, but it looks so much better. I'll add that she's 4.5 as well.

LO's hair is similar and we just keep it short with bangs. I don't know what to do with it because mine is thick and curly, so I count days she lets me brush it as a victory.

I love the reverse bob when you leave the salon, and that's about it! What about a bob with long layers? I think it's such a cute look on young girls.

@looch: yes, we have to wash it at least every other day. In the summer, it is every day. Super fun.

@smocks: @avivoca: thanks for the tips on the shampoo. I'll have to look for something else for her. @Mamaof2: what do you use on DD?

Her hair looks like mine! I find the best thing is to keep it chin length, very slightly graduating from the back and when drying it, use the shape of my head to shape the hair. I dry my hair from the back and then brush it to the front.

Do you wash it daily? I can't go very long between washes because my hair is the type that gets greasy by the third day.

DD1 has thin straight hair as well. I like to keep the back straight and I think that helps with it looking stringy. I switched her to Jason Kids shampoo and really like it. It definitely helps give it more life and tangles less. It's more expensive than off brands but you only need a tiny bit to sud up.

@mediagirl: I normally use my shampoo/conditioner on her hair. We both have fine, curly hair (I just have a lot more of it and mine is a bit coarser), so I notice a big difference when I use L'Oreal's Ever Curl line on her hair rather than Johnson's. I would maybe try using something similar to yours or a higher end drugstore brand than just J&J or Suave. Even Suave is hard on her hair. It looks much stringier and I notice it tangles more easily when I use cheaper shampoo.

Looks just like my hair, so... no suggestions Lol. My hair is a pain. Straight as a stick, limp regardless of the style/layers/product/shampoo/conditioner. I just keep it long, with long layers. It looks best when I brush it a couple times a day (with a boar bristle brush), shampoo/conditioner every or every other day, and definitely blow dry it to reduce the stringiness.

My DD has the same hair, but it's not quite as thick yet. She's 3 and it keeps thickening up little by little, but it's not long enough yet to really style it much.

Have you thought about doing layers to add a bit of body? What kind of shampoo and conditioner do you use? I've found that the type of stuff I use on H's hair really can weigh it down and make it seem limper/stringier than it really is.

Any hair experts out there or anyone else with a child with this type of hair? It's getting longer and she likes it long but it is so limp and stringy and just doesn't look good. I don't want to do bangs again and don't feel those will solve the problem. The last time we got her a reverse bob it looked cute but was still stringy. Is she just destined to have stringy hair? Any tips on what we should do? How we can cut it so it's not so limp and stringy looking?

I didn't want to limit to just gold so - star face!
