@kodybear: My son is 2, but he seems to outgrow things quickly. I think I was just concerned the half sizes are too small of a difference in length to really impact how comfortable the shoe is. Plus, I would like to get some use out of the shoe before sizing up.

My nephews used to get horrible blisters from ill fitting shoes (too big). I am really picky about my kiddos shoes fitting properly now. That being said, not all the brands or styles DS wears come in half sizes (he is a 9.5-10). We haven't had any blister issues though.

How old is your lo? My daughter is 2.5 and her feet aren't growing very fast now so she lasts a couple months in a half size. But I can see how when they're younger their feet grow so fast! u could try sizing up in whole sizes and see how he does!

Every brand might be a little different (the brand I'm referring to in the post is See Kai Run). I'm just worried that there is such a small difference between the half sizes that he would quickly outgrow them. I'm not sure how fast a child's foot grows, but he already seems to size up every few months, and that's for whole sizes.

For daycare i buy her sneakers in half sizes because she has tripped in the past (which gave her a black eye from hitting the table! :-/) from shoes that didn't fit well! but her shoes at home i usually just buy full sizes as shes not really running around as much

DS is in toddler shoes and we bought his sandals in a half size. If we bought him in his current shoe size, he wouldn't get much wear in them, but the next whole size up would be too big for him.

My son was wearing toddler shoe sizes (5, 6, 7 and 8), but now that he's starting to outgrow his size 8, I need to buy him a pair in the regular kid sizes. However, I noticed the kid sizes come in half sizes, so the next size would be 8.5 followed by 9, 9.5, 10, etc. The difference in shoe length is only .3 inches between whole sizes and half that between half sizes. So is it necessary to buy a half size, or do most people keep moving up whole sizes?
