I think this year we might do a craft, then set up a Halloween scavenger hunt for the kids and our nieces and nephews, which I would like to become a tradition.

We decorate and do crafts. I put the Halloween station on Pandora and we have dance parties. We always watch The Great Pumpkin and Garfield's Halloween and read tons of Halloween books too.

Love this thread! I'm going to try and incorporate some traditions to get DH more involved because I love Halloween and he doesn't. These are great ideas!

These are awesome ideas! We are lucky to have lots of Halloween festivities in our area so we will go to multiple Halloween events and one in particular will stay a family tradition.

Every year I pack up a Halloween box with all our Halloween books, hair bows, a couple of favorite decorations (the rest just go into a bin) and anything else that would be fun to open and we open it around October first. Last year I added some pajamas and this year I'd like to add some dishes. It's kind of a fun way to kick off the season, especially since lo's birthday is mid October and so far her parties have been at home so we don't really decorate until after the party. It isn't anything crazy or elaborate though. I know some people go all out with similar boxes for Christmas.

DD loves everything about Halloween and covets all things spooky. Much like her mother, so we go all out.

Last year, she was 2 and requested "spooky walks" frequently during the last half of October. Our neighborhood is big on decorating, and she loved looking at all the different set-ups. This year, I thought about including a very simple scavenger hunt (find 1 black bat, 2 spooky ghosts, 3 smiling jack-o-lanterns, etc) and inviting some friends for an early evening walk.

We already do movie nights as a family, most Friday nights. In October, we hone in on Halloween themed flicks and make complimentary food.

My sister and I used to paint oversize black t-shirts with glow-in-the-dark puff paint. Our mom would cut Halloween shapes out of sponges, and we'd go to town. They were then used as our Halloween nightgowns. I think we'll bring this tradition back, this year.

My dad grew up on the east coast, celebrating, "Mischief Night" on October 30th. He remembers smashing pumpkins, soaping windows, and egging houses, but our family would just find way more PG, funny ways to prank each other. Thinking about incorporating this with DD in a super 3 year old way.

We eat dinner by jack-o-lantern light, before we head out trick-or-treating. Usually pizza made to look like a pumpkin. Pepperoni facial features and a green bell pepper stem. ;-)

We'll do some Halloween crafts and pumpkin carving, and go to a pumpkin patch.

Last year LO really liked the Curious George Halloween movie so we will probably watch that again and maybe check out some new ones!

We decorate like crazy. This year, we're doing a projection with music.

We will also go to the pumpkin blaze, it's our first time.

This is more of a family/grown up tradition, but we've been having my siblings and their families over for chili and a pumpkin ale/fall beer taste test on Halloween or the weekend prior.

We watch Hocus Pocus in October.
We play backgammon, drink wine out of coffee mugs and eat chicken and dumpling soup every Halloween night.

Now that my daughter is a little older I'm thinking a lot about traditions that I want to continue throughout her childhood. I was wondering if you guys had any fun Halloween traditions? Other than pumpkin patch and ToTing we don't but I would love to add some!
