@truth bombs so glad to hear it. Last night was night #4 of bad sleep and it was BY FAR the worst. Based on what I saw of my son's throat, it looks terrible.

Did I also mention we had to miss out on family vacation because of this? Major bummer all the way around.

@MrsADS: We just went through this last week. It was 4 nights of really bad sleep. The throat sores are incredibly painful and Tylenol/Advil seemed to make no difference. But our little buddy is back to being his great sleeping self now.

DD had HFM and barely had any rash externally. Sleep was rough. I think if you are doing what you can and hang in there.

@muffinsmuffins @autumnleaves thanks. It is horrible. We are giving Motrin and Tylenol and always right before bed. I think what you said is right on about the appetite. If he's eating and drinking as usual, probably a good sign his throat is getting better and night wake ups may be a habit thing. If not, he's probably waking up with pain. I hope it passes soon! This is totally miserable.

@MrsADS: Have you tried to give him a pain reliever? My LO is 14 months and is going through something similar - combination of ear infection, HFM, awful diaper rash, teething, and maybe hitting developmental milestones in the past 2 weeks. Tylenol did not help 3 nights ago but I think Motrin helped last night - no fever - but I think he is in pain still and am working to treat that. It's been rough. I hope your LO feels better soon. When my older son hit 22 months - he did run into sleep problems - I am not sure if it was his 2 year molars or developmental but all of the sudden he was up multiple times through out the night and it was bad.

DS had it around 15 months and it was 4 days/nights of awful wake ups all night, then tapered to one or two wake ups for another maybe 2-3 nights then he went back to normal (which was STTN) We just had to ride it out. He has been a good sleeper who we didn't need to train however. I'm guessing it's just a couple more days til your guy will be back to normal. The sores took almost 2-3 weeks to heal but they were starting to look better by 1 week. Appetite is a good sign his throat is starting to feel better. We did round the clock Advil for almost a week I think too.

My LO (22 months) was diagnosed with likely hand foot and mouth yesterday at the pediatrician. Although she said she is not 100% sure that's what he has. He had 3 days of a fever, will hardly eat or drink anything, super cranky, and she said he had very red sores in his throat (I looked when she shone her light in his mouth - his throat looks terrible). We noticed 2 other small sores, one on his temple and one by his lip, so it's not like he has the full fledged rash. This started Sunday - it's now Wednesday.

Anyway, his fever has been gone since yesterday afternoon. I don't see any other sores. My main concern is with his sleep. He has been up the last 4 nights just screaming with multiple wake ups. Last night was AWFUL. I was up basically all night. He became hysterical if I left his sight, wanted to nurse all night, would just catnap laying on me. But no fever and this morning he ate a whole Nutrigrain bar. So, I am assuming the horrible nights are because of the sore throat? Or is he just waking out of habit at this point?

I am paranoid because he was an awfulllll sleeper before we sleep trained at 17 months (like up all night screaming every night) and I am so terrified of getting back to that!
