@pachamama: so coxsackie is from the enterovirus family which is the same as HFM. In my own experience it was pretty mild compared to HFM stories I'd heard. We had maybe a couple days of decreased appetite but his mood was mostly fine. The only reason I ever saw the mouth sore was while brushing his teeth.
He had a fever for a couple of days, but again he was in good spirits so I didn't really treat it.
Rash also didn't seem to bother him.

They do say that they are contagious until all mouth sores are gone. I would see if you can find any under LOs tongue, that's where his was. So we kept an eye on that and for any new ones. We stayed quarantined until that one went away. About a week. From what I understand his was mild but it can be much much worse for other kids and babies so you still don't want to risk spreading it. It actually is contagious before symptoms actually show up. We got it from his "best friend" who had it way worse. But of course they played before she showed symptoms so he got it too. Hers was bad with lots of mouth sores and his was mild.
I think even if you don't see mouth sores, I would still quarantine about a week to be safe.

I think any time there's a widespread rash like that it doesn't hurt to have a ped look and confirm what it is.

My ped said there's nothing they can do to treat it or really nothing we can do beyond Motrin and cold foods like ice cream/yogurt. Avoid acidic and salty foods (again, this is all in the case that you do find a mouth sore).

For us it wasn't all that bad besides a couple days of crankiness and a couple days of just yogurt all day.

HFM for my son started in the diaper area and spread to his legs. He got maybe a blister or two on his feet and that was it. He had a fairly mild case but it didn't seem to bother him at all.

When my son had it it started on his butt then moved to his hands, mouth, and behind his knees and elbows where he gets eczema. He never had a fever or any sores in his mouth but it came on quick and like nothing I have ever seen. It looked like his skin was burned but thankfully didn't bother him that much.

DS1 had this in September and his nails are still falling off from it. It was seriously all over his body, but definitely the worst on his hands, feet, and inside the mouth. The ER doc was considering Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, it was so bad. It lasted a good 14 days with him, but the first week was definitely much worse than the second. The bumps in his mouth were very painful, the rest hurt too but were more insanely itchy than painful.

DS2 caught it a few days after big brother and his was much milder. Over it after less than a week, less bumps, no nails falling off. Hoping your little one has a tame version of HFM!

We had coxsackie which is same family as HFM about 2 months ago. He had little red bumps all over his body. Mainly concentrated on his thighs, trunk and upper arms. He only had one mouth sore.

There are all different variants of the HFM virus so they can manifested slightly different ways. My son's started on his arms and legs, then spread to to his groin, feet, and hands. He got over most of it in about 7-10 days and acted normal, despite some long naps during the fever the first day.

DD's HFM broke out on her face first, then her legs.

When I got it, the sores in my throat hurt but only those ones.

Without seeing the rash, I'd say totally normal. My DD had it all over her legs, esp. upper thighs.

My 10 month old started with a fever then the bumps appeared (daycare confirmed Coxsackie virus was going around) but what's weird was they started in his buttcrack and groin. Day 3 it's a bumpy red rash on his legs and some on his arms.
Is this normal? I don't think it's chickenpox because there's nothing on his torso, how many more days? Do the bumps hurt?
