We use a bissel one; it has to be plugged in, which is kinda annoying and I didn't really think about it, but the pro is that it won't suddenly die on you and you have to recharge. We use a full on dyson, and also have a roomba, so I find this little bissel good to just do touch ups.

We have either the Dyson DC35 or DC44 that was a wedding gift and we love it. It's kinda pricey $200-300, but it's convertible to full size upright or handheld, really streamlined design that just hides up against the wall out of the way when not in use. It's battery-powered and its charge only lasts 5min on max power or 15min on normal power, which some people don't like. But we both agreed we'd be happy never to vacuum for more than 15 consecutive minutes, anyway!

we have the shark one we got as a gift. works really well (suction wise, etc.) for a handheld, the only downside is that it doesn't hold a charge long... i feel like we constantly have it plugged in on the stand... and can't store it away if we want to use it.

I'd like to get a hand held vacuum cleaner (a la Dirt Devil). I don't want to go too cheap and have it be a piece of junk and likewise don't want to pay too much money. Recommendations?
