@littlecasita1122: I tried to do this too. Gender neutral for crib and stroller for sure and a lot of the big ticket items on our registry.

We don't know what baby is yet, so we've only bought gender neutral things. I plan to keep this in mind, though, even after baby is born, and not buy too many things that are gender specific. It's harder to do (especially on the cheap, and if it's a girl), but I don't want to have to buy a new wardrobe for each kid!

I figured we at least saved money by doing gender neutral big stuff - the strollers, car seats, high chair, pack n' play, etc so I won't feel as badly buying another wardrobe if we end up having a girl in the future (we have a boy now). My LO's wardrobe is clearly boyish so I wouldn't feel comfortable putting a girl in a lot of his stuff.

I am also being more careful with sleep sacks, bibs, and burp cloths now - I try to buy gender neutral stuff whenever possible and not just focus on blue!

@Bao: @autumnlove: I know everything we have so far is very clearly girly! I can't even imagine DH would be okay with a son wearing girly pajamas if we ever have a son! And I'm sure that's something no one even sees besides the parents!

I am crossing my fingers for at least one more girl so all these beautiful clothes don't go to waste!

If we had a boy first I'd feel comfortable putting DD in most things that aren't too boyish. Everyone calls her a boy when she's wearing head to toe pink sparkle dresses so she may as well be in jeans and t-shirt. Grrrrr

Most of my LO's clothes are super girly (except for plain white and NFL onesies) so we would not reuse her clothes for a boy.

Honestly, I would only put certain things from my DD on a boy, if we ever have one. We do have some gender neutral pajamas from before we knew LO's sex, so those would work. We also have gender neutral onesies. Other than that though, it's all pretty girly. We got a lot of it from consignment shops though, so we would just do the same for a future boy, to save money.

I aside from dresses & skirts boys can pretty much wear all girl clothes too unless the colors are too girly

I know there's always talk of saving $ and getting the most use out of a LOs clothing, especially since LOs grow so darn fast! I love Brandy's (Heart & Habit) fashion posts, but it does seem MUCH easier to do this when 1st LO is a boy and 2nd LO is a girl. No one seems to bat an eye if a girl wears her brother's hand-me-downs, but what if it were the other way around? Would you dress your son in your daughter's hand-me-downs? I'm sure there are some things that can be unisex (jeans and sweatshirts namely), but would you or your SO feel weird about dressing your son in "girl's clothes"?

FWIW - I had all older boy cousin hand-me-downs forever as a kid. Not pretty in pics at all. :(
