Hurmm. Totally didn't pay attention during my ultrasounds! Definitely will next time though. So far I'm pretty sure my 10 month old favors her right hand. Lefties run in my family--sister, cousins, aunts.. DH and I are righties though

there are conflicting reports stating that left-handedness may or may not be genetic. My brother is left-handed and my mom was handed before her teachers / parents trained her to be right-handed. It doesn't matter, really, but just something neat to observe during ultrasounds.

My LO did not move during yesterday's scan until the tech literally punched me in the stomach and it started doing backflips!

In ultrasounds it seems that my LO moves both sides evenly. Never stops moving during ultrasounds in fact!

We pediatricians say that you can't really determine handedness until around 18 months. Having said that, our daughter is 20 months and still switches hands for drawing and eating. I was ambidextrious as a kid, so maybe she will be too!

Neat, I didn't pay attention when I saw LO on ultrasounds. Someone told us that since she has a swirl of hair on her head that goes clockwise, she's right handed. But we've noticed she grabs with her right hand so I'm going to say that's the best way of knowing.

@marley: Welcome to Hellobee! I didn't notice anything from LO's ultrasounds but now at 6months, we're thinking she might be left-handed based on how she grabs for and uses her left hand.

I am now 12 weeks and had 3 ultrasounds so far. The last two I was able to see the LO move! My husband and I noticed that the LO moved only its left arm and left leg in the last 2 ultrasounds. I did some googling about this and found that this could indicate the child's left-handedness. Anyone out there notice this on their ultrasounds and have babies with corresponding handedness?
