My older son (4.5) always used his right hand and is a righty. DS2 (20 months) uses his left hand to point, eat, and color. I think he’s going to be a lefty. My husband is a lefty too, so I wouldn’t be surprised.

My DD1 started showing a preference around 2.5 and is definitely a leftie. Dd2 is 2.5 now and I have noticed she is using mostly her left hand. So we might be 2/2 for lefties !

I think with DD1 she was around 2.5 when a clear dominant hand emerged, although she still switched on and off for a long time.

DD2 is too little for me to say.

My first always preferred right since i can remember. I thought my second might be a lefty because for a long time he always ate with his left. But eventually he learned a spoon and a crayon with his right so perhaps it didn’t mean much.

My son will be 3 in June and I’m still not sure about him. He colors and paints with the right but often eats and throws with the left.

My older son has always seemed to prefer his left hand, at first with sucking his fingers and then as he got older with cutlery and crayons. He’s only 4 so I’m still not sure, but I’m pretty sure he’s going to be a leftie. I think my younger son might be going the same way.

both of mine suck fingers on their left hand, but my 5 year old has shown herself as a pretty true righty. my 2.5 year old though has a preference for her left though, so we'll see where she lands! i think 13 weeks is way too early to make any call.

My older daughter didn’t show a preference until pretty late- she was 3 before I would call her a righty and at 4.5, she still uses both hands- like her teacher reports she uses scissors with her left. So I think maybe she is more ambidextrous than many?

My younger daughter has shown a preference for her right hand from early on, but not 13 weeks!

Did your LO show a preference for one hand or another early? Did that end up being their dominant hand?

My girl favors her left hand considerably for finger sucking, but she’s only 13w so I don’t know if we should read into it or not. Her daddy will be thrilled if it is a precursor to joining him as a lefty lol!
