Basically needs to be something that can be washed 100% because at least with my kid, it all goes in the pants. So no non-washable toys, and certainly not an electronic! She has a wild hand. I started giving her a wet washcloth to suck on otherwise a h20 waterwipe. That way her hands are occupied. Sometimes she needs one in each hand. If her hand gets near her diaper I wipe it pronto with a wipe asap. Once they are big enough to hold their heads up you would use the sink with soap and water to wash in a daycare setting. They have to have their hands washed after every diaper change whether their hands get dirty or not.
