I think you can get LO involved in crafts. When they were one I think I just drew holiday symbols and had them finger paint. As they get older the crafts can get more involved obviously. The other thing is that they can help with the cooking. I will let them turn on the food processor to cut potatoes, or mix the dough for sufganiyot. We do gifts on the first night and the rest are just for spending time together as a family. Technically it isn't actually a holiday, but a festival. Outside of the US, presents aren't actually associated with it. Last year (when E was 17 months), we did a handprint menorah (two paint handprints with the thumbs overlapping).
