I have tried toddlerese half-heartedly but feel so stupid. Today I have committed 100% to it, and y'all, it works. It has been especially good with dealing with boob-mongering! All these damn snow days mean my daughter and I are together a lot more than usual and she keeps asking to nurse. I have been responding, "Nurse! Nurse! Nurse! You want to nurse!" really emphatically. She actually stops whining and looks at me and then I say, "But we're going to {other thing} right now." So I told him "don't worry the oranges are going to be right here while we race to the eggs. Ready, set, go!". I know my kids can't resist a race though! :) and he is 2 now so can tolerate a little bit longer explanation.<br /> ETA: I probably repeated myself a few more times- "orange after pay" after the initial sentence.
