i've noticed this in old diapers as well - I always assumed it was due to humidity!

I'm glad you posted this bc I thought some of DS's diapers were crunchy and they were brand new, Kirkland brand. It was a few in one pack...we used them but I did notice the crunchy feeling! Wonder why...

I had some size 5 diapers my LO1 potty trained out of and kept for LO2. It was 7th generation (probably when they first came out) and it was definitely stiffer. We had kept it for 4 years. He wore it anyway :silly:

We use huggies and occasionally notice this, although still use them without issue.

@josina: yeah I have some 2 year old diapers that are fine too! So weird.

@Foodnerd81: that's what I thought too that moisture had gotten to some of them... maybe some of the new ones were exposed to moisture before being boxed up?

@kiddosc: So these are little snugglers. The snug n dry are not as soft and DS got a bad rash as soon as we introduced those so we never uses them again. Every time someone buys us a box of snug n dry I return it to the store and exchange for little snugglers.

Are they huggies snug and dry? I have always found those to be crunchy and they seem like they would be uncomfortable. We exclusively used huggies, but the little snugglers and little movers... the snug and dry line seems to be their discount line and don't seem as nice to me.

@Mrsbells: I have some leftover crunchy pull ups! Some were out of the package so i assumes they had just absorbed moisture somehow, but then I had an unopened box that was almost as bad. It’s so weird and I’ve never had that before. My kids are also 2 years apart so these were probably sitting in a closet for two years.

I use Luvs, and have used some leftover from my first, so 2 years old, and they were still fine!

So my two boys are 2 years apart and I had some left over diapers from the 1st that I tried to use on my 2nd. Some worked fine whilst others were hard and crunchy. I assumed it was because they were old and had been out of the package for over a year but then I receieved a brand new box of huggies last week and the new diapers are also hard and crunchy! What gives?

I have never experienced that with new diapers straight out of the box. I've only been using huggies for a few months, I had previously always used pampers and I never had this issue with new diapers. Is this common?
